Plastid division Divide by binary fission. May also divide by budding. Prokaryotic genes probably of endosymbiotic origin control division in convert with eukaryotic genes. Proplastids (insert image diagram, chloroplasts etc.)

Chloroplast development is regulated by light.

Lumen is essential for generating extra energy for photosynthesis - very reactive system. Chloroplast development is triggered by light. Chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b gives us the green colour.

(giant 1st diagram)Consumed water, generated oxygen, waste etc. - > producing power -> burnt through respiration. (giant 2nd diagram)

Photosystem 2 takes in photons -> producing ATP -> goes though photosystem 1 -> where more photons take it to a higher energy state -> resulting in the production of NADPH.

Calvin Cycle: 1: Carbon Fixation -> 2: Reduction -> 3: Regeneration of CO2 acceptor (RuBP) Cyanobacteria: Photosynthetic prokaryotes Fix nitrogen in heterocysts N fixation is a anaerobic process Photosystem 2 is suppressed in heterocysts why?

Apicoplast characteristics: Tiny genome (35kb); basic house keeping genes only Eubacterial antibiotics caused delayed death.
