The Synchronisation

Principle

A synchronous network must be synchronised by the

same source.
With the priority, it is possible to have several reference
clock on the same rack.
For example, on a ring configuration network, the
synchronisation clock can be sent by one way for a
normal used and by the other for the protection used in a
failure case.

The Synchronisation

The Quality

To each external or tributary source can be given a

special quality (PRC, SSU_T,SSU_L or SEC).
One STM1 source, shall have the quality SSM, this
value can be :
PRC,SSUT,SSUL, SEC,DNU
Qu
ality take precedence over Priority if SSM is activated
Quality
If a STM1 source is selected as synchronisation reference
for the rack, Then the quality DNU or LTI is sent
back (by SSM) (for preventing timing loop)
