Trainings are beginning in all three programs. The rst wave of parents has just completed all ve lesson of FMP, AIM has begun, and more iMatter trainings are scheduled. Preparatory activities are also taking place for Hygiene Matters Togo

Project AIM
The rst AIM sessions in South Africa began on February 18, with all sites prepared. Our staff overcame signicant obstacles to ensure that all sites had the necessary materials, and the wave began with 99 participants registered. This exceeds our goal of 96 participants registered. Were very proud of the AIM staff and are excited to see this program develop.

Families Matter! Program

Wave 1 of FMP was completed at the Nquthu and Orange Farm sites, with 333 parents trained and a retention rate of 93%. Cape Town implementation was paused to accommodate a CDC training that took place at the end February, and will resume in the rst week of March. The training of current facilitators as trainers and the training of new facilitators has been pushed back and is now scheduled to take place in April. In the meantime, operations continue as usual.

Hygiene Matters
Planning continues for Hygiene Matters Togo. Pierre Chiner, of the glise vanglique de Pentecte in Lyon, France, has given his support to the program and will lead a team to perform the training of the Master Trainers at the end of May. Pierres team also conducted the trainings in the Central African Republic during the HM pilot program. Materials are en route and scheduled to arrive by the end of March.

Immediate Needs
We have begun collecting resums for our iMatter Training Specialist availability. We hope to ll this position by the beginning of March in order to keep up program momentum. The nalization of our registration with South African Revenue Services (SARS) is still pending. All documents have been submitted. Research remains understaffed, and we are on the lookout for an individual who will be able to take on supervision of our various research projects. This individual will oversee research design, implementation and analysis for Hygiene Matters Togo and for iMatter.

iMatter
iMatter teacher trainings have been delayed due to other mandatory teacher trainings. However, negotiations continue and we have managed to secure training dates for March and April. Limpopos Training Specialist Hope Ramaphosa looks forward to holding the training of Master Trainers from March 11-15, and KZN Training Specialist Thando Tshitshi has teacher trainings scheduled for April 13 and 20. She is hopeful that the DoE will provide her with a date for the training of Master Trainers in the next few weeks.

Actuals are well-aligned with the budget. There have been very few surprise costs and the month has been nancially stable. Program funds are now being used for implementation rather than preparation as the programs get underway.

Grant Year 5 Budget & Program Goals

Opportunities
Program development continues for the iMatter Kenya expansion opportunity. Scripture Union and OneHope Kenya are eager to tailor plans that will meet the goals of all organizations involved. We are still seeking funding for the program, the cost of which amounts to $670,000 for Year 1. Proposal efforts are also underway for Hygiene Matters Togo, with funding needs amounting to $150,000. Program collaboration is ongoing with local organizations and with our partner for Hygiene Matters, OneHope. Discussions have also begun in pursuit of the expansion of Hygiene Matters to Benin, a slum development project in India, and a state-side iteration of Project AIM. Donations are being accepted toward all of these opportunities.
