Climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are the principle objectives of the clubs featured in the list. They are all based in and controlled by their own members. All club applications are submitted to the BMC National Council for approval. Nine areas form the democratic base of the BMC, and serve as local forums for discussion and debate about mountaineering issues. The clubs are listed under the relevant area, but usually accept members from other areas. There is a small number of national clubs and these are listed separately. The contact for each club listed here will normally be able to supply you with details of their club membership requirements, activities, meeting places, etc. The list was last updated on the date printed at the bottom of the following page.

The club has an active membership with organised meets taking place every month at huts all over the UK. Have a look at the meets list to see where the meets are going to be in the coming months. Club members are also active on many weekends of the year with trips to areas such as the Peak District and Wye Valley. All activities tend to be organised at our weekly get-together which takes place every Monday from 9.15pm at the Broad Leys pub near the centre of Aylesbury. Categories: BF

There is plenty to join in with, whether you want to really stretch yourself, or just gently explore the outdoors. There are day events, socials, weekend and longer trips, getting close to wonderful places all over the UK. Recent trips have included winter walking in Scotland, kayaking on the Wye, the annual gathering in the Peaks, tea-shop walks in Shropshire, backpacking in Yorkshire, walks along the Chiltern Way and South Downs. We pride ourselves on being non-elitist, non-sexist, non-ageist we are the friendly club and dont have cliques! We have members in all parts of the north-west, and opportunities for climbing every week-end, (and caving meets twice a month). In summer there is a weekly programme of evening meets. We have a hut near to Dow Crag and another below the Moelwyn Crags in North Wales. There is a Newsletter and a lively bi-annual Journal.
