Meet Stephen Evensen

Stephen Evensen Candidate for Secretary of the Minnesota College Republicans

As the Secretary of the Minnesota College Republicans, Stephen Evensen will use the organizational and leadership skills he has learned in his work with the Republican Party and in student government to ensure effective and robust communication patterns between the State Board and individual chapters. He will also strategically utilize local press outlets and school newspapers to communicate the work and vision of MNCRs to a broader audience. Stephen looks forward to using the role of Secretary to unite, grow, and mobilize our party in preparation for the critical 2014 midterm elections. Stephen is currently a freshman at Bethel University where he is majoring in political science and history and minoring in leadership studies and Biblical & theological studies. Stephen serves as the Chairman of the Event Planning & Coordination Committee of Bethels College Republicans chapter. In this position he regularly schedules meetings with his committee to plan events for the chapter. He then communicates these plans with Bethels Executive Board and the rest of the group. Stephen is also an active member of Bethel Universitys Student Senate. He represents his dorm building, Bodien Hall, and is running for sophomore class president. In the Student Senate, Stephen works with other Senators to develop bills and resolutions to improve the college experience of his constituents, as well as the rest of the student body. Last August, Stephen worked at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL. He served on the RNCs Committee on Arrangements where he directed floor operations and helped to facilitate caucus meetings. He has also had the opportunity to intern and volunteer for a number of prominent campaigns, including those of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Congressman Joe Walsh (IL-08), Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06), and numerous other State Senate and State House of Representatives races.
