POWER PROJECTS IN J & k Welcome to Bursar Project

Introduction The proposed project is located approximately 80 km from Kistwar town. The dam site is located near village Hanzal on river Marusudar which is one of the majot right bank tributary of river Chenab. The project comprises of a 252 mt. high rockfill dam with a total installed capacity of 1020Mw (4x255). Being a storage project the flow of water can be regulated not only to the benefit of this project but all downstream projetcs i.e. Pakal Dul, Dul Hasti, Rattle, Baglihar, Sawalkot and Salal Hydroelectric Projects, thereby enhancing the potential of all downstream schemes. The firm power generation in these Chenab Valley Power Stations will increase three fold during October to April in 90% dependable year and would thus mitigate the shortage of water availability in the river during the winter months. Welcome to Chutak Project Introduction Chutak HE Project would harness the Hydropower potential of river Suru in Kargil district of Jammu & Kashmir.The barrage of the project is located near village Sarzhe and the power house is prposed on right bank of river Suru near village Chutak. The

project envisages to utilise a gross hwead of 63.4 m to generate 212.93 million units in a 90% dependable year with an installed capacity of 44 MW. HRT heading excavation 16% completed. E&M works awarded to M/S BHEL on 16.08.2007.

Welcome to Kishenganga Project


Introduction The proposed Kishanganga Hydroelectric Project would be located on river Kishanganga, a tributary of river Jhelum, in Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. The project involves construction of a 35.48 m high concrete faced rockfill dam and a underground powerhouse. A maximum gross head of 697 m is proposed to be utilised to generate 1350 Million Units of energy, in a 90% dependable year with an installed capacity of 3x110 MW. An additional energy generation 312.62 MUs at Uri-I and Uri-II HE Projects would be available after completion of Kishanganga HE Project.

CCEA has sanctioned the project in its meeting held on 21.06.07. MOP vide letter Dtd. 20.07.07 has conveyed the approval of CCEA of implementation of Project at a total cost Rs. 2238.67 crores. Welcome to Nimmo-Bazgo Project Introduction The proposed Nimoo Bazgo H E Project is a run of the river scheme to harness the hydropower potential of river Indus in Leh District of Jammu & Kashmir. The region of Ladakh combines the conditions of both arctic and desert climate.Therefore it is called a

"COLD DESERT".The present available electricity are grossely inadeqaute. The project is under construction and will generate 239 MU in a 90% dependable year. Welcome to Pakal Dul Project


Introduction The Pakal Dul (Drangdhuran) Hydro Electric Project has been contemplated as a reservoir based scheme on river Marusudar, the main right bank tributary of river Chenab in Kishtwar Tehsil of Doda District in Jammu & Kashmir. The Project envisages construction of a concrete face rockfill dam of 167 m high across river Marusudar at village Drangdhuran and an underground Powerhouse of 1000 MW (4 units of 250 MW each) at a location 2 km u/s of Dul dam, near village Trimuli. At Full Reservoir Level (EL 1700 M), the gross storage of the reservoir is 125.4 Mcm. The project shall generate 3330.18 MU power in 90% dependable year.

The Project headquarter is located at Kishtwar, about 240 km from Jammu. The dam site is 45 km from Kishtwar. The nearest railhead and domestic airport is situated in Jammu. The Environment clearance proposal was discussed by EAC in its meeting on 14.11.2007. TEA accorded vide CEA letter dated 03.10.06. Draft PIB note has been submnitted to MOP on 07.12.06. Welcome to Sewa - II Project Introduction Sewa river is a tributary of river Ravi, originating from Sartha hill range and traverses a short course of 53 km down to its junction with river Ravi at an altitude of 578 m. Sewa Hydroelectric Project Stage-II is a run-of-the river project having installed capacity of 120 MW. The power house is located in a village called Mashka near the junction of Sewa and Ravi. It is located in Murree formation, Panjal volcanics and Tnawal/Bhadrawah group of rocks in lower Himalayas.The project will generate 535 million units annually in a 90% dependable year and also provide 120 MW peaking capacity in thepower system of northern region.

Welcome to Uri-II Project Introduction Uri-II HE Project is located in Uri Tehsil of Baramulla District. The nearest railhead is Jammu, which is, connected to the Project site via Srinagar and Baramulla by NH 1A (about 400 Km). The Project is planned immediately downstream of Uri-I and will pick up its tail water to make use of the gross head of about 145m available in the course of the river between Uri-I tailrace outlet and a place located about 1.25 km downstream of the confluence of Goalta Nallah and Jhelum River, close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Project is estimated to generate 1370 MU of energy in a 90% dependable year. (Jan. 2004) Year of Commissioning/Completion Schedule March 2010 (Anticipated) TECHNICAL FEATURES Concrete gravity dam 52 m high, 173.2 m long with 4 nos. of spillways of 9.0 m each 4.3 Km long , 8.4 m dia of HRT (Horse Shoe Type) Restricted orifice type surge shaft of 25 m dia. 2 Nos. steel lined penstock 5m dia and 4 Nos. of bifurcated steel lined penstocks of 3.5 m dia. Underground power house of 132 m length x 15 m width x 41 m height to accommodate 4 units of 60 MW capacity each. 3.8 Km. long horse shoe type TRT. PRESENT STATUS (As on 30.11.2007) The work was severely hampered due to devastating earthquake on 08.10.2005. River diverted in Jan 2007and Dam abutment excavation completed. 88.92% HRT Heading excavation and Powerhouse excavation 36% completed. 57% TRT excavation completed. E&M works awarded to M/s Alstom and HM works awarded to M/S OM Metals SPML(JV) on 09.05.2007.
