surface pattern student, Lucy Palmer, from the college to create an identity for herself as a designer, and to promote the work she will do to visitors who will see her work at the 2013 LCA degree show. Background Lucys Bio: I am a creative surface pattern designer. My love is producing high quality and well-crafted designs that have popular appeal. I am constantly taking inspiration from the world around me. My current method of working is to start with hand-rendered imagery, producing detailed line drawings and then transferring these into CAD for a strong visual outcome. I have a versatile approach and particularly enjoy illustrating carefully considered, whimsical characters and props with an emphasis on childrens design. Considerations - I am trying to get across: professionalism, creativity, something that is a little different to other designers. - The target audience would be to be to appeal to young children, but also to their parents. - The tone of voice should show a whimsical design, and almost humorous, but well thought about and detailed illustrations/patterns. The purposes of Lucys work is to make people smile and to make people happy, and her current work is targeted at children. - The purpose of the website would be a documentation of current work and projects that Lucy is working on, to engage clients and to also seek some freelance employment possibilities. - The agreed printing budget is 200 plus 50 contingency. Mandatory Requirements - A contract should be drawn up between myself and my collaborator so that we are both aware of the terms of our work - All nal decisions should also be approved by our course tutors - The work must be completed on time and delivered to the highest standard to ensure a successful reception at the degree show Deliverables - Logo and brand identity - Business cards (possible 2 varieties: one luxe for you to give out, a simpler version to be left on your show display) - Website, and social media: Blogger, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Etsy, Pinterest - Business stationery: Letter heads, envelopes, compliment slips - Promo material: Look book, postcards, mini cards, CV, promo pack - Packaging for sellable products incl. boxes, bags, swing tags - Press: magazine / blog features - Putting the branding in to action! Print&pattern etc. Deadline All design work will need to be completed early enough so that proof copies can be made and signed in time that the nal products will be ready for the degree show, which will be in June 2013. Rationale A live investigation of branding and identity with a focus on both design for web and for printed promotional materials. Statement of Intent I am going to create a brand identity for a surface pattern designer because I want more live experience of branding work to use for my portfolio, and because I need experience of dealing with clients and professional printers to prepare me for future work.
