'Theinhabitantsofotherplanetswouldlooklikemonstrositiestous,simplybecauseourunderstandingistoofeebletograsptheir evolutionaryhistoryandindeed,sofarasthatgoes,wedonotevenknowourownevolutionaryhistory.Ontheotherhand,wemenof earth,forinstance,wouldbelikedevelopedbeaststotheinhabitantsofMercury,repulsiveinshapeandhorribleintheusestowhichwe putourfaculties. 'Jupiter'sinhabitantsaremuchmoreetherealinphysicalstructureandtexturethanthoseofearthorVenus,butmuchlessevolvedthan either.Wecoulddescribethemasaeriformorigniformhugeentities,asperfectlyathomeontheirownplanetasweareonours.'(FSO 3334) '[E]venwhatwewouldcallthe"beasts"ontheotherglobesofourplanetarychainare,oncertainonesofthoseglobesasforinstance onGlobesFandGsuperiortowhathumanbeingsareonthisGlobeD,althoughtheyoccupythesamerelativepositioninthe hierarchicalscalesofGlobesFandGthattheydoonthehierarchicalscaleofGlobeDourEarth.JustasonEarthwehavetheMineral, Vegetable,Beast,andHumanKingdoms,sothesesamekingdomsexistonalltheotherglobesofourplanetarychainbuteachkingdom ontheotherglobes,althoughoccupyingthesamerelativestepinthehierarchicalLadderofLife,neverthelessisvastlysuperiortothe conditionorstatethatitoccupiesonGlobeD.
