QUESTION: Identify five cases in your surroundings that you think need special education. Describe their brief case history and give reasons for their inclusion. ANSWER: -

CASE NO 1: Name:-M.Ali D/O:-WaseemAhmed Age: - 6 years DOB: - 12th August 2006 Gender: - Male

Address: - Unar Muhalla Qazi Ahmed Chief Complain: Delayed Milestones

History: M.Ali 7 years old child born on 12th August 2006 at home by a Breech presentation (by Daai with aseptic procedures). M.Ali has delayed mile stones and difficulty in learning new things.He has still not started talking and is still learning to walk normally. Her inability to learn things like normal child suggest that he is Mild to moderate mentally retarded. Conclusion: M.Ali is a mentally retarded child with a mild intensity, who has difficulty to learn new things. He needs extra help to learn different thing which will help him in ADLs & needs special education to get educated and live an independent life.

CASE NO 2: Name: D/O: Age: - 4 years Address: M.Waleed Amjad Shahzad DOB: - 15th January 2008 Shahanshah chowk Qazi Ahmed CP child Gender: - Male

Chief Complain: -

History: M.Waleed is 4 years old child born on 15th January 2008. Due to lack of awareness in the people he was born at home by a Daai & due to carelessness did not have normal APGAR Scale values. There is also a history of premature birth i.e. 30 weeks. Presently he can understand other people and also has learning difficulties suggesting that he is moderately mentally retarded. Conclusion: -

M.Walid is moderately mentally retarded child who has learning difficulties and require special education. CASE NO 3: Name: S/O: Age: - 10 years Address: Abdul Rehman Assadullah DOB: 21st September 2002 Gender: - Male

Joona Mori, Qazi Ahmed

Chief Complaint: - Complete Deafness History: Abdul Rehman is 10 years old & was born on 21st September 2002. He is the 3rd child his parents have, parents stated that his eldest brother is also partially deaf by birth & the parents are 1st cousins. He went to school initially but was unable to get adjusted with other students so he was set back home.

Conclusion: A.Rehman has complete hearing loss due to which he cant go to normal schools. He has no visual or speaking problems but the above history is suggestive of need for special education of the child. CASE NO 4: Name: S/O: Age: -8 years Address: Zainab Ilyas Ilyas Ahmed DOB: 8th March 2004 Gender: - Female

Bhutta Chowk, Qazi Ahmed

Chief Complaint: -Complete Blindness (Bilateral) History: Zainab was a normal child born on 8th March 2004 & was a Full-term baby. Her father is a former. Zainab was 4 when she inserted insecticides/organophosphates in her eyes & due to lack of facilities & resources was not taken to the hospital in time so she lost most of her vision after which same kind of incident happened a year later when her little brother threw alcohol in her eyes & she is completely blind now. Conclusion: Zainab has bilateral complete vision loss which causes her to be unable to go to schools or learn from normal books. She requires special Braille books to read which can be provided in special education schools. CASE No 5: -

Chief Complain: - Poliotic Child

History: Shehnaz was a normal child at birth & she has other 6 sisters who are also normal but she started to develop difficulty walking when she was 7. The problem developed gruadually & she was unable to stand on her right leg. She got operated twice but is unable to walk still. Conclusions: Shahnaz has no audiovisual abnormalities but has disability walking so she needs to have special education in specific special education schools.
