RESEARCH In final year project my group worked on progressive collapse analysis. In this project I analysed a building hit by the terrorist and applied different techniques. In the analysis, first of all the linear static analysis of the structure has been carried out to get the actual design parameters of the building. After that non linear static analysis was carried out by introducing hinges at the critical locations. In order to analyse the damaged building, static dead loads were applied on the damaged structure. The simulation of the damaged structure was done by removing that portion of the structure that was actually damaged in the explosion. After that push over was applied to real time simulate the pressure wave generated by bomb blast.
DEGREE OBJECTIVE: Master's Doctorate Non-degree Visiting Student Researcher PROPOSED FIELD OF STUDY AND DESCRIPTION OF YOUR STUDY OBJECTIVES (Do Not Attach Additional Sheet) Bachelors

I will like to pursue my masters education in geotechnical engi neering. The reason behind this rational is that during my bachelors of civil engineering I realized that there is very little advancement and progress in geotechnical engineering and people know very little about it. In Geotechnical Engineering we study soil characteristics and provide information about the foundation at which any Civil Engineering structure is built. In this regard my interest is in expansive soils which cause problems. Along with other soil improvement techniques, chemical stabilization of weak soils with lime and cement is gaining popularity due to abundant availability of required materials, equipment, labour and high cost to benefit ratio. Along with that I will like to make its comparison with other methods and will evaluate on the basis of their feasibility under anticipated site conditions, effects of treatment on strength, durability, permeability, volume stability are taken into account.
FUTURE PLANS (Upon Return to your Home Country)

After my masters I will like to go for PhD and if it couldnt get this opportunity than I will return back and start working in field. I will use knowledge and try to implement in field. I will also like to share it with my colleagues at my country. If I successfully fulfilled my ambition of PhD after that I will prefer teaching afterwards because I myself want to be a teacher and want to introduce advance research facilities in my country for research. I will try to improve my education system too.

STUDY RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

Write a clear and detailed description of your study objectives and give your reasons for wanting to pursue them. Be specific about your major field and your specialized interests within this field. Describe the kind of program you expect to undertake, and explain how your study plan fits in with your previous training and your future objectives. This statement is an essential part of your application.. Do not mention specific U.S. universities at which you would like to study. NOTE: Please limit your response to the size of this text box.

During my stay at University of Engineering & Technology I realized diversity of Civil Engineering and also realized that there are many dark areas which need to be explored. Due to which I choose Geotechnical Engineering for my M.Sc. In Geotechnical Engineering we study soil characteristics and provide information for foundation of any Civil Engineering structure. In Geotechnical Engineering there are also many sub-fields and choice of sub-field is deeply related with professional carrier that a person is going to adopt. I am particularly interested in exploring advance techniques and equipment used in Geotechnical Engineering like pressuremeter. I am also very keen to go through the latest theoretical work in this field because all the literature available now and all we have studied is very old. Another very important thing is that the designs of deep foundation like piles and I will like to study techniques for design of piles. Dam engineering is also a major field of interest for every geotechnical engineer as it requires extensive geotechnical investigation and very precise results because of its critical nature. Moreover here in Pakistan we are in a desperate need of dams because we are facing extreme power shortage and irrigation water is also insufficient. In this way in future I will help my country. In my Bachelors I have studied Geotechnical Engineering-I, Geotechnical Engineering-II, Pavement and Foundation Engineering and Transportation Engineering. In above all mentioned course I have gained sufficient knowledge and it will be enough to provide me a strong base to fulfill my ambition to pursue my Masters of Geotechnical Engineering from United States of America. After my masters I will like to go for PhD and either I will associate with some research institute or will go for teaching and will share my knowledge and experiences with my students and other teachers too. During teaching I will also have time to conduct research work. If I couldnt get opportunity to pursue my PhD than I go for field job and will practically implement and practice my knowledge. .

It should include information about your education, practical experience, special interests, and career plans. Describe any significant factors that have influenced your educational or professional development. Comment on the number of years of practical experience already completed in the field in which academic work will be done in the U.S. Do not mention specific U.S. universities at which you would like to study. NOTE: Please limit your response to the size of this text box of fifty lines of text.

My life is life of struggle because the day I born till last year of graduation I never saw my father. In a society where father is sole mark of your identification, it is impossible to sustain and excel without your identification. There were too many hurdles. It was sheer determination of my mother to educate whole family which had been the driving force in all the past years. At the start, I realized the fact that there is no future without good education. It also revealed on me that due to lack of fee, I may not be able to get admission in good institutes with highly qualified staff and up-to-date laboratories. So from the very beginning, I determined to work hard. Along with my academics, I also focused on extracurricular activities in spare time. As a result of my assiduous efforts, I was member of a professional hockey club, District under-17 hockey team, science debating team, Quaid-Azam Scout (Highest boy Scout Rank in Pakistan) and during same year I passed my matriculation and was among top 1% students of the school. As a scout I have participated in many scout camps and also served in a polio vaccination campaign. In my higher secondary school, Unfortunately due to lack of funds and space, there were no extra-curricular activities but during that time I played hockey at provincial level and passed my F.Sc with 886 marks and was among top 20 students of college. Finally I was admitted in University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, the most prestigious institute of the region, in Civil Engineering. During my stay at University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET) my inexorable progress continued despite severe financial condition. At UET I was the member of Society of Civil Engineer (SCE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and remained member of university hockey team for all four years. In final year, I was captain of University Hockey team and our team was silver medallist in LUMS Hockey Tournament. I have also the honour to receive University Colour due to my extraordinary performance in hockey at UET. In final year I was group leader for final year project and we successfully completed the project. My extracurricular activities never affected my educational performance and final I graduated with 3.416/4.000 and was among top 20% students. After completion of my Bachelors, I joined National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES)-FAST as a Lab Engineer and want to pursue my Masters from United States of America. I am very hopeful that my desire can be fulfilled through full bright scholarship. The reason for choosing United States of America for masters is there state of art laboratories, highly qualified staff, academic environment and teaching methodology.
