Shakespeare Reading Groups Project Overview AP Lit. & Comp.

Reading Schedule Your group needs to develop a reading schedule. You have approximately ten weeks to complete ALL assignments: roughly _________. Naturally, all work will show correct MLA formatting, use bibliographies, and be academically HONEST! Plot Summary and Character Overview/ Genre (1per group) You need to develop an overview of the major parts of the story just the facts. Find a creative way to present this information to your classmates. However, be thorough!!!! Be sure to discuss/compare/contrast the drama in terms of Shakespeares other Histories/ Tragedies/Comedies. Literary Devices/ Figurative Language (1 per group) Though you have quite a bit of experience with Shakespeare, it is now time for you to become an expert with regards to the text you chose. Look carefully at all the syntax, diction, and literary choices the Bard makes. Pick the most significant ones to this text! Do NOT rely on previous experience; it will not necessarily fit your play. Quote-ables (1 per person) Your play is also jammed packed with the brilliance of Shakespeare! Each week, be prepared to present an important and oft quoted line from your drama. Give us the context & significance, and be able to describe if/how it has been taken out of context when we use it today. Passage Pull (1/act per group) You will pull an important passage from each of the acts of your text. These are for close-passage practice. You will not analyze your own; you are choosing for your other classmates. Write eight multiple-choice questions -Think AP test!! Monologue/ Soliloquy Analysis (per group) You will do a performance and presentation of 2two major monologues OR soliloquies from your text. Be creative, and be thoroughly knowledgeable. Do NOT simply explicate it; analyze it for form, function, tone, character, etc. Literary Analysis Essay (1 per person) Individually you will each write an essay on your drama. However, you must each do a different topic! You may not write on the same thing! That does NOT mean you cannot help each other; all analysis is vital and important. Critical Approach Analysis (1 per group) Literary analysis youve done is simply looking for themes and tones in your text. However, crazy English people (like me) also believe that you can view literature though certain lenses. Just like changing the tint on a camera or glasses, what is visible in the story though this lens adds insightful meaning and interpretations. As a group, choose one of the following to use as a lens to re-examine the value and meaning of the text. This needs to have written and visual components.
