This company was established in 1995 at New Delhi and shifted to Chennai in 1996. This is a manufacturing unit of SANDS group, with focus on import substitutive products. The company developed India's first hand-held computer in 1996 and won the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) award for best Innovative Product. This hand-held computer is widely used in Electricity Boards as Common Meter Reading Instrument (CMRI). Presently, this is the only indigenously developed product in India. Currently, the company focuses on manufacture of Energy Management Systems Solutions which include the following: SCADA + Energy Management System ! GPS based Time Synchronisation equipment ! GPS survey equipment !

SANDS UTILITY SERVICES PVT. LTD.

This company was established with the growing market for Utility services, specifically in power sector. Indian power sector is undergoing structural change with focus on Distribution Management System. SANDS was the first company in India to undertake service activities like meter survey, meter reading, bill distribution etc., in erstwhile Delhi Vidyut Board in Sept. 2000. The company demonstrated that by adopting simple analytical and management programmes, the utility could get revenue benefit of Rs. 30 crores against service cost of Rs. 1 crore. The success of this model is reflected by the fact the Ministry of Power has adopted many of the schemes proposed by SANDS at the national level. Salient Features of current projects: ! ! ! SANDS completed India's largest Consumer Indexing project for Reliance Energy Limited, Delhi. SANDS have handled more than 2 Million consumers for various utility services; thus becoming India's largest utility service provider. SANDS have completed about 20 Million meter readings; the highest ever read by any services company in India.

SANDS Instrumentation Pvt. Ltd., provide turnkey solutions in Defence Communication, Power Instrumentation and Energy Management. The company has infrastructure, R&D facilities and expertise to undertake high technology projects. SANDS Institute of Technology (SITe) is the training division of this company and is one of the largest training centres for Embedded Systems in India. The institute also undertakes training of engineers in Distribution Management for Power Sector.
