IT has two sec.: 1.Aptitude:compulsory 2.Choice between HT&CFD or Stress analysis or C prog. I had attempted the HT&cfd one.... so i am giving those ques as far as i had remembered .... ONE MORE THING I WANT TO TELL U THAT THEY HAD SELECTED 5 CANDIAITES FROM MECH. ENGG. ONLY WHOSE THESIS AREA IS IN THE STRESS ANALYSIS OR FEM..... THEY DIDN'T TAKE CFD PEOPLE ..... THIS IS IN KANPUR ...BUT IF YOUR THESIS IN PURE FEM THEN U HAVE GOOD CHANCE. TEST IS VERY SIMPLE ... ALMOST ALL QUES EVERYONE HAD ANSWERED....BUT THEY HAD SHORTLISTED USING ONLY ...... THESIS AREA USEFUL FOR THEM ....THEY ALSO REQUIRE PURE HEAT TRANSFER AREA CANDIDATES .........OK!! .....THEY CONDUCTED GD ALSO BUT TOOK 18 OF 21 IN THE GD. FROM INTERVIEW THEY TOOK 5 PERSONS.OK!! TEST : 45min,5aptitude ques,10 technical test. Aptitude (very easy) : 1. 6 men can do pack 6 packets in 6 min. then in 60min 60packets can be paked by how many men ... ?? ANs. :6min. 2.1km train crosses 500m bridge in 30sec. then it passes 1km bridge in what time : Ans.:40sec. 3.very easy, i didn't remenber :about ratio of money distribution : Ans. : 40 4&5 Are in reasoning . they r also very easy. I had attempted HT & CFD.

ques as far as i remember are: 1.flow a fav. b adv. c nopr seperation is due to : pr. grad. pr gradient. gradient

2."shape function" term belong to a FEM b FDM c Control volume approach 3.Abulition cooling is used in a A/c engines b Ic engines c.space craft vehicles. 4.thermal efficiency range of GT is a 10-20% b 25-30 c 35-45 d 10-45 5.velocity normal to the place where seperation of flow occurs is : a.max. b zero. c min. 6. "K" of air increses with a T dec b T inc. c T const 7.temp of air and the surface adjecent to air will be equal when .... a Bi >0.2 b h of air is very high c k of surface adj. to air is very low. 8.reynolds stress vector is: a symmetric for invisid flows .. two more options given. 9.the addition of numerical dissipation for a scheme is to a) to add stability b) to increase accuracy c)......... answer:(a) 1 more que. i didn't remeber correctly ..... SM is also easy for people who remeber little SM. Mostly i saw that ques r similar to that given in IITM....but not same......paper will also be changed for u people......test matters very little ...your thesis matters the most.....but what

> > > > > > > > > > >

may be your luck!....see...... here lot of them attempted SM. the programming section is somewhat advanced... i.e, in pointers, structures & need lil awareness of datastructures........ I think people from Aero can mostly do CFD & HT.. good luck
