Special Music: Hazen & Joan Memory Verse: Trixan Talsan
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day All Thy works with joy surround Thee; earth and heavn reflect Thy rays Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowry meadow, flashing sea Chanting bird and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in Thee Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest Wellspring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest Thou our Father, Christ our Brother, all who live in love are Thine Teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine Mortals, join the happy chorus which the morning stars began Father love is reigning over us, brother love binds man to man Ever singing march we onward, victors in the midst of strife Joyful music leads us Son-ward in the triumph song of life The Solid Rock My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus blood and righteousness I dare not trust in mans weak frame But wholly lean on Jesus name * On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand All other ground is sinking sand All other ground is sinking sand When darkness seems to hide His face I rest on His unchanging grace

A - ________________ God gave the word/promise of adoption. Genesis 17:7 *God said to Abraham,+ And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you. The Lord Jesus confirmed Gods word of adoption by his death and resurrection. John 20:17 Jesus said to *Mary Magdalene+, go to my brothers and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God. See also Galatians 4:4-7. Our adoption is sealed in water baptism with the Spirit of adoption. Galatians 3:26-29 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. (27) For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ(29) And if you are Christ's, then you 2
D- ________________ & ________________ Commitment to God and His ways means being a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (19) Go therefore and disciple all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Hebrews 12:5-11 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. (6) For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives." (7) It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? (8) If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. (9) Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? (10) For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. (11) For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
B - ________________ In baptism, we are united to Christ and all His benefits the benefits of His kingdom become ours. We belong to God as Christ belongs to Him. God is our Father. We receive the Spirit of Christ. We receive forgiveness and righteousness. We receive new life and sanctification. We receive the nurture of the church and we in turn share in mutual giving and encouragement. We take part in extending the kingdom of God.
C - ________________ The parents of the child, and his ninongs and ninangs, should model and instill commitment in the child, commitment to God and His ways. They should model and expect faith in Christ. They should model and expect obedience to God. Deuteronomy 6:4-7 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. (5) You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. (6) And 3

BENEDICTION FOR THE CHILD (Prayer for the child) The blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, descend upon you, and dwell in your heart forever. Amen.
CHARGE TO THE CONGREGATION This child is now received into Christs Church. You the people of this congregation, in receiving this child, promise with Gods help to be his/her people to the end that he/she may faithfully walk with Christ all his/her days, and come at last to His eternal kingdom. Jesus said, Whosoever shall receive one such little child in My name receives Me.
CONGREGATIONAL SPEECH The congregation stands and speaks together to the child. Little child, for you Jesus Christ came to this earth, struggled and suffered; for your sake He crossed Gethsemane and went through the darkness of Calvary; for your sake He cried: It is finished;
COVENANT VOWS FOR THE CONGREGATION The minister asks the congregation the following: Do you as a congregation undertake the responsibility of a covenant community in assisting these parents in the Christian nurture of this child? (Please signify your response by saying, Amen.)
COVENANT VOWS FOR THE NINONGS/NINANGS The minister asks the following: Do you, Ninongs and Ninangs, as second parents of the child, undertake the responsibility in assisting these parents in the Christian nurture of this child? (Please signify your response by saying Yes I do.) 4
for your sake He died and for your sake He overcame death; indeed for your sake, little child, and you still know nothing of it. And thus the word of the apostle is confirmed: We love God, for He loved us first.
