I will use the journal entry to measure the students understanding. I will also use formative assessment during our discussions throughout the lesson. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. Students should be able to discuss the concept that money is limited. If students can complete their journal entry and participate in whole group discussion I know that they can discuss the concept that money is limited. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think it will be easy for students to learn that you cant have everything you want because money is limited. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? The word scarcity seems a little hard for second grade students. I think they will know that money is limited but might have a hard time with the word scarcity. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I could follow up this lesson by giving the students a fake allowance for a week. They will have to manage their money the entire week to be able to pay for a prize at the end of the week. This will show them that money is not limited and choices need to be made according to your wants and needs. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For students who dont grasp the concept, I will work with them one on one. We can talk about items they want and discuss if it is possible to have them. Do they have enough money? Is their money limited? 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I wouldnt change anything about the lesson. I like having a book to read to the class and then incorporate writing to get the students to think abstractly about the concept that money is limited. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? I knew I liked the book but I didnt know what activity I wanted to do after the book. I thought a journal entry would fit better than an activity because it gets the students to work on their comprehension as well as learning about the concept that money is limited.
