A. Summary of the Lesson Plan: Students will be able to name the current President of the United States. Students will learn that the current President can change. B. E. Procedure: 1. Ask students to raise their hands if they would like to be President of the United States. 2. Ask a few students why they would like to be President. 3. Place picture of current President under Elmo. Ask students if theyve seen this person before. What is the persons name? 4. Name the President for the students who do not know the name. 5. Ask students if we have the same President all of the time. Briefly explain the maximum terms that a President can be in office. Explain that Barack Obama is our current president which means he is in office right now. The current President can change. 6. Teacher will point at the picture once more and the class will say the name together two more times. 7. Teacher will model how to write a short story on If I were President using the outline. 8. Students will copy the text and fill in the blanks independently. 9. CLOSURE: Tell a shoulder partner if they would or would not like to be President and why or why not. F. Assessment:

What will you use to measure student understanding? The students completed worksheet on the President will be used as the assessment. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. Students will have to write the name of the current President at the top of their paper which will fulfill the objective.
