Job description Finance Manager

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day management of the finances of XXXX including budget monitoring; invoicing; purchases and staff expenses. Manages the organisations financial administration, ensuring controls are in place to maintain the security and accuracy of financial information. Administration of monthly payroll in accordance with Inland Revenue and other regulations. To prepare annual accounts for audit and liaise with the auditor as necessary. Keep up to date with financial regulations and legislation. Produce financial and management reporting information to internal and external stakeholders. Provision of financial training, support and advice to budget holders as necessary. Record and bank all money received by the charity and liaise with the bank as necessary Carry out the bank reconciliation including monitoring direct debit and standing order payments. Monitor the receipt of grants and other income. Transfer funds between bank accounts to ensure maximum interest. To manage Gift Aid applications. To prepare cash-flow forecasts. To prepare quarterly management accounts of the charity and financial reports for the Trustee Board and Finance Sub-Committee. Liaise with the Treasurer. Contribute to the Senior Management Team. Prepare the annual budget with the Chief Executive, the Senior Management Team and the Trustee Board.

Complete and submit annual end of year returns to the Inland Revenue. Issue P45s, P60s and any other documents as necessary. Maintain staff personnel records. Update company personnel information e.g. company handbook. Ensure that adequate insurance cover is maintained for the charity and liaise with insurance brokers as necessary. Carry out facilities management duties as required, dealing with the landlord and property management agent for building maintenance, cleaning contracts, insurance and risk assessment. Abide by and ensure that all aspects of charitys finance work comply with XXXX equal opportunities, child protection and other policies. Any other duties as reasonably required. Person specification Substantial experience working as a Finance Manager or similar role. Strong IT skills and experienced in the use of financial software. Knowledge of or ability to learn QuickBooks. Qualified Accountant (CIMA /ACCA) or able to demonstrate similar skill level and understanding through experience. Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload. Ability to develop, monitor and maintain management information systems. Experience of budget development and the production of financial management information. Experience of SORP accounting guidelines and the production of end of year accounts. Good communication skills in person and in writing. Ability to lead and to contribute to the management team. Understanding of equalities and diversity requirements in relation to service delivery and the recruitment of staff and volunteers.
