Morning Meeting Plans Week of Mon. 11 Fri. 15 Greeting Skip Die Greeting Children throw a die to find out the number of spaces to skip before greeting someone. For example, if the first child to greet someone throws a four, she will skip four people and greet the fifth person in the circle. The first greeter hands the die to the person she greets, takes that persons place in the circle, and sits down. The second greeter throws the die, and the greeting continues until everyone has been greeted.

Activity March 11, 2013 Rocks, Paper, Scissors Objective: Students will be able to cheer one another while engaging in friendly competition Procedure: Discuss the importance of cheering on and supporting peers. Explain rules of Rocks, Paper, Scissors Paper beats Rock, Rock beats Scissors, Scissors beats Paper. Model a round. Next, model how the winner of a round moved on to a new competition while the loser follows that person around, cheering him/her on. Eventually, two students will be left with every student cheering one of them on.

Procedure: Students greet each other in reverse alphabetical order by last name (reverse pin number) Ball Toss Greeting The first greeter greets someone, then gently throws, rolls, or bounces a ball to that child, who returns the greeting (but not the ball). The second child then chooses a new child to greet and to pass the ball to. The greeting continues in this way until everyone has been greeted once. The greeting ends when the ball

March 12, 2013 What Are You Doing? Dear Class Procedure: First person begins by acting out an Today hour poetry unit in reading action. Thurs Crazy Walk Greeting Each student thinks of a way to move across the circle. They could crab walk, disco walk, skip, hop on one foot, walk on their knees, etc. Choose one person to begin the greeting. The person who starts will pick someone from across the circle that is the opposite gender to greet. The first person then does her crazy walk across the circle and greets the other person with a handshake, and then returns to her seat. The greeting continues until everyone has been greeted. Fri Closed Eye Greeting Players shut their eyes and the teacher chooses someone to begin. The player who is chosen opens his eyes and says Good Morning ____________, to the player of his choice in the circle. When the player being greeted hears her name, she opens her eyes, returns the greeting, and then greets someone else whose eyes are still closed. The greetings continue until everyone has been greeted.
