Reflection and Evaluation on the Impact of the Final Product Since I agreed to make a video for my client, I knew

I wanted to use the text effects. I thought to do this because a lot of the videos you see for psychics, mediums and clairvoyants are usually, in my clients words: pink and fluffy, which is something she wanted to get away from, hence my use o the moving text. With regard to my technical qualities, I think that using Adobe Premier Pro was a very good choice of mine, as sometimes the software I usually use, Avid, is difficult to navigate and in my previous experience of using key frames on it, I found it unnecessarily complicated for what I was trying to do. I found this comparably easier in Premier Pro however, and found also that it took me less time to do my animation. This programme also allowed me to create high quality and different fonts; I could select a text style, and change the colour or the font as I saw appropriate. I also found it very easy to add images in, though I had to scale them down with the use key frames and move them with the same method. This wasnt a problem however as I learned a lot about how to use the key frames in different ways aside from animating, this also showed me that I didnt need to create a new background with the image on it each time I wanted to add one. This is good because had I used a new background for each image, I would have found it incredibly difficult to edit, as it would a fullscreen image, meaning there was barely any room for effects. When I needed to record my first idea, I was using the TV studio, and with that the chroma key, but not using the one which links to the studio, as this would have cut off a lot of my client, such as the top of her hair. This would have meant that I wouldnt get the professional feel I was after, Instead, Derek suggested using the green curtain by itself and changing the image in after effects, which did give a good background. I didnt continue to use after effects, as I found that what I wanted to do with the text could easily be done in Premier. This would also have meant that I would have to learn After Effects which can be very intricate for a beginner like me. I didnt end up using this footage as I was convinced that my client would do better with just a voice recording, due to her nerves. I think this worked better as she sound alot more convincing on tape than she does on camera. This is good as it means that she is putting faith into what she does and this should refect on the audience. To record my client speaking, I used a Marantz Voice Recorder, Ive had excpeirnce with this equipment before as I hhave used it for another assignment. I did need to re record some areas of the speech because some of it was too loud on first recording. I managed to get rid of the spiking by holding the mic a little further away from my client, and by changing the sensiticity slightly to allow for a clearer sound. For the mini video shoot I did do, I used my own camera, which is a Toshiba Camelio A35. I did make sure to shoot in full HD to keep with the rest of the video (I intended it to be either 720 or 1080p) this worked well however I found the footage a little grainy, but once Id reduced the size of the image the quality was pretty good, hence why I put all of these together in a small group to allow the audience to see the footage, but at a bettwr quality than perhaps itf it was full screen. Looking at the aesthetic qualities in my video, I quite liked how the programme I was using to edit provided me with many different text styles and font. I was also able to choose from a number of different gradient types to further vary my work. I think this worked in my favour as I tried to make syure no two bits of texts, toher than where specified, looked the same on the same page as it were. This ensured variety in my work, which is something I really wanted to achieve so that the

audience didnt get bored. I though the music was appropriate because of how upbeat it was. I would like to point out that it is a version of a song by Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) but changed to the style of Nightcore, which in essence means it was sped up and pitched higher than the original to make it more like a dance piece. As mentioned in my focus group,I mainly chose it because of the build up to the main body of the music, as well as the mix of classical violins and modern synthesisers. I do think that, looking back at what one of my members of the focus group said, I would probably try to reduce the bass a bit as I think if I were to have the music any louder it would have over powered my clients voice over. Looking at my animation from the aesthetic point of view, I was trying to make sure throughout that I was adding a bit of variation to what I was doing. For example, I wanted to make the word ROCK stand out, hence why I make it shake. This made a bigger impact as it draws the audience further into the video than if I were to just make it fly in. I also tried to change the text as I found appropriate for the word, again with the word ROCK I put it in a cracked font, which is quite typical of the rock music genre. I wanted to use a whitye background because I thought thag using space imagery as I had originaklly planned wouldnt work with my pure text format. Thisn ic because I would have to consider the different colours and imagery within the pictures which coulod cancel out the ffect the text would have, it would alos have looked far too busy for what I am trying to achieve. White was a ncie compromise because I could use just about any colour on it and use a few images without worrying about it looking too busy or not being able to see some of the text. If I were to do this again, I think I would probably allow a littloe more time for each of the animated text pieces, as some of them moves a bit too fast for the audience to see properly, so I think next time Ill add a couple more key frames to allow the audience to read the text. I think I would also space out my titles a little bit more towards the end, as I did put quite a lot of words onto one page, this may be a good thing however as it did give a lot of the information out in a short space of time, which is really what the video needed. Looking at the image I use of my client in the introduction when she talks about the different jobs she does, I think I could probably have not used the image on a completely different background, as Ive mentioned before. This would have meant I could priobably animate it so that it flew in along with the text, I also think I could have made the image a bit bigger sso that there wasnt so much white space. My Clients Feedback I asked my client to write me a paragraph about what she thought was good and what was bad about the video, and I got this response: The video had a brilliant pace- I loved the music and how it made the whole thing bounce. The violins really added an extra edge to the piece and the bass just grabs the attention. I wish the video could have been longer so I could hear the rest of the song. The different fonts, their colours and the styles really gave the piece a bright look about it, I liked the fact that you didnt use a lot of black or grey. I thought the gradients were really clever too. The animation was brilliant, I loved how you made the words jump out at me and shake- I also liked the fact that you varied it slightly from flying in and out to appearing as and when- that helped the pace of the video immensely. I would like to see a bit more animation in some places though, for example where you have animation alongside text which just appears, I think it would help with the

consistency. I like how you took the information we recorded and really enhanced it with the visual effects. I think we should have got a little bit more footage of me doing the cards- I wish I was more confident on camera! I still liked what you did with the footage we did get, and I think you put it in the right place. If we had a bit more footage, I think we could have put some in other places just to let the audience see me again. I think we should also have got some footage of me doing a life coaching session, though Im not sure how we could translate that onto camera. You did a good job of showing the audience why Im different from other people in the same profession- this was mostly through the way you emphasised certain words with animation, size and colour. I especially liked the text which reads Lean mean FIGHTING machine, the emphasis was brilliant. I do wish it was just a little bit longer- just so again the audience could read it. Overall, I really love the video, I think its innovative and interesting, and will hopefully get a lot of views! Im impressed with the work that has gone into it and would like to use it on my social networks to gain more interest. Im very glad that my client loves the video; it makes me happy to know that Ive impressed her and that she wants to use the video for her promotion. Like my focus group members she has picked up on the rather quick titles, which I will probably sort out should I do this again. I can see why she said about getting a bit more footage, and if we had time I think we would have gotten more. This, like she says, would have let the audience see her a bit more, which would add a personal feel. The only problem with this is that, as I have stated throughout the project, that my client is extremely nervous on camera, which is why I chose this format. If we were to get some footage of her, I think we would have shot her in the same way we did with the footage we got- over the shoulder and only a couple of shots of her face to make her feel more at ease. I like the fact that she found the personality in the text, it makes me glad that she likes the special emphasis I put on some of the words. Expanding on the quick titles, it was a bit difficult for me to get all of the text to move slower, because I had to keep everything constrained to ensure that I could keep the timings as accurate as possible. I think I am most glad about my client agreeing that the video is very different from everything else out there- I really wanted to achieve this to do my clients work justice. This is why I wanted to use this concept, as I havent seen any other medium or clauirvoyant with this type of promotional video. Over all I think my video has had the correct impact, my client is happy with the video and wants to use in on her social networks, which is the main aim I had for the piece, as if I didnt create a video which is up to the standard she expected, she, obviously, wouldnt have wanted to use the video which would render it useless, which would be a shame considering how long it took me to add each title and animate it on top.
