Notes

MONDAY week #1

This Geography lesson is designed for 4th grade students to learn how to use a compass to follow directions and locate places. This lesson uses resources found on the Internet.

G5.4.1 Identify and use intermediate directions on a compass rose to locate places on a map of Nevada.

Dont forget to get enough compasses and rulers for the class. Print off 25 copies of quiz A and B Print off 25 maps of Nevada

TUESDAY week #1

This Geography lesson is designed for 4th grade students to learn how to use a compass to follow directions and locate places. This lesson uses resources found on the Internet.

G5.4.1 Identify and use intermediate directions on a compass rose to locate places on a map of Nevada.

Dont forget to get enough compasses for the class. Make poster boards with locations before the day of the lesson.

WEDNESDAY week #1

G5.4.2 Identify spatial patterns on a map of Nevada, i.e., deserts, mountains, and population.

Have all of the Nevada (From Sea to Shining Sea) books out and ready. Print out 25 copies of the Nevada Map Worksheet.

This Geography lesson is designed for 4th grade students to learn the difference between Nevadas human and physical features. This lesson uses resources found on the Internet and pages 6-17 in the Nevada (From Sea to Shining Sea) book.

THURSDAY week #1

G5.4.3 Construct a map of Nevada displaying human and physical features.

Print off physical/human features pictures ahead of time Print off 25 copies of the blank Nevada Map

FRIDAY week #1

G5.4.3 Construct a map of Nevada displaying human and physical features.

Get poster boards for each group ahead of time. Use pictures from yesterdays lesson to help the students.

G5.4.1 Identify and use intermediate directions on a compass rose to locate places on a map of Nevada. G5.4.2 Identify spatial patterns on a map of Nevada, i.e., deserts, mountains, and population. G5.4.3 Construct a map of Nevada displaying human and physical features. G5.4.4 Utilize different types of Nevada maps, i.e., population and physical maps, to understand spatial distribution.

Print off 25 copies of the blank Nevada Map. Get out compasses and rulers for the center. Create index cards with vocabulary terms and definitions ahead of time.

TUESDAY week #2

This Geography lesson is designed to test 4th grade students on the material learned in this unit.

G5.4.1 Identify and use intermediate directions on a compass rose to locate places on a map of Nevada. G5.4.2 Identify spatial patterns on a map of Nevada, i.e., deserts, mountains, and population. G5.4.3 Construct a map of Nevada displaying human and physical features. G5.4.4 Utilize different types of Nevada maps, i.e., population and physical maps, to understand spatial distribution.

Print off 25 copies of the Unit Test. Make sure all students have a privacy folder.
