ACSS L-3 COMMUNICATIONS, Phoenix, AZ 2009ACSS is a $100M supplier of Air Transport category Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems, Terrain Avoidance Systems, transponders and ADS-B software applications including Surface Movement, In-Trail Procedures and Interval Management. Vice President of Engineering 2009Reporting to the president, responsible for all engineering activities. Led a staff of 100 engineers in systems, hardware, software, test equipment, installations and certification. Responsibilities included new product development, project planning, staffing, budgeting and execution, legacy product sustainment, manufacturing test equipment development and support, engineering processes, certification, industry committee support and technology innovation. Managed annual engineering budgets between $25M and $30M. Organized and re-focused an engineering organization that was late and far over budget delivering a new integrated TCAS product. Completed certification within 8 months. 2004-2009

Director, Avionics and Electrical Engineering 2004-2009 Recruited to lead the avionics and electrical engineering department to specify, design, and certify the industrys most technologically advanced light jet avionics and control system. Responsible for department planning, staffing, processes and budgeting as well as program planning, execution and manufacturing startup. Certified the industrys first Very Light Jet. Directly led the IPT responsible for all major systems upgrades. Defined state-of-the-art built-in diagnostics and test capabilities as part of the Avio NG avionics suite to reduce production test time by over 50% and flight test by 4 hours. Established FAA-approved engineering processes, including DO-178B software development and systems engineering. Developed new technologies for airborne parametrics with satellite and Wi-Fi communications. Led the design team for a complete EFIS and comm/nav replacement with a new supplier, attaining FAA certification in less than one year.
