HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Kings 22-25; John 2 Monday, May 13 Rom. 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Holy Savior and Merciful God: In Christ, on the cross, it was finished. Not only was a perfect fulfillment of the law achieved on my behalf, but what I win through the merits of Christ is more than I could have had if Adam had never fallen. Hallelujah for the cross! Adam, even if he had not sinned, could never have boasted, It is finished, because the creature can never finish his obedience to the Creator. If Adam succeeded in following God from the first day until now, he still might fall tomorrow. But my God is so good, Christ, who completed creation, has now perfected redemption for me. Hallelujah for the cross! It is finished is more than the damned in Hell will ever be able to say. That is why Hell is eternal. God, you are infinitely holy. That makes any single sin against you an infinite offense. And the only way to pay for an infinite offense (unless we trust in Jesus Christ who paid it for us) is through an eternal punishment. Still, you do not get from those in Hell the complete satisfaction of your offended justice. It is never finished there, but my Jesus did what all the flames in the pit could not do in all of eternity. Hallelujah for the cross! Rev. 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Becoming the end of the law for righteousness means you totally destroyed the power of Satan, sin, and the grave. Death came against you and struck you with its most deadly dart, which went right through you, till it stuck in the cross. But just like the honeybee, when he tried to pull it out again he had to leave the stinger behind. Death was disarmed, and you were able to go to the unseen realm of death and Hell and say, Give me your keys. Hallelujah for the cross! A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 7-9; John 4:28-54 Thursday, May 16 Exodus 2:10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 1-3; John 3 Tuesday, May 14 Eph. 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: My Heavenly Healer: You always loved me from before the foundation of the world, but your death on the cross took away the barriers in the way of love. You wanted, as God of love, to show love to me. You could now, as God of justice, love me to the fullest degree. That is how you bless poor sinners like me. In this, you yourself are glorified. It is at that spot, up there on the cross where you wrought your meritorious work that saved me, that the Father gives the most honor to the Son. You had honor as God, but as man you were despised and rejected. Now as both God and man, Heb. 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Heb. 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Tis by the merit of His death who hung upon the tree, The Spirit is sent down to breathe on such dry bones as we. Christ had long promised the presence of the Holy Spirit. Now he is able to perceive a new and living way by which he can come and dwell in my heart. Prior to the cross, the saints were saved on credit. They got the Spirit of God to come upon them, or even in them, but not permanently dwell with them. But now, because of the merit won by your death Jesus, the Holy Spirit is able to make me holy. He is not turned-off by my unholiness. No, he exists to provide me with holiness! Thank you Lord, for this new way to godliness by the cross. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 10-12; John 5:1-23 Friday, May 17 Psa. 119:17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word. My Holy Master: We recognizewhat we get out of life is directly related to our love for you and your word. But learning the Bible does not come naturally to us. Give us grace to be disciplined as we are discipled. Make us into servants, because when we approach the scriptures with pride we will not see their depths. Help us move over to the other side of this divine two-way mirror, and see the circumstances of our lives from your same perspective. The only way for us to understand is ifHoly Spirit!you are our Teacher. Psa. 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. We dont want to see just anything. We want to see the wondrous things! Since we are no longer blind we do not want to go through life with our eyes closed because of having a shut Bible. Give us the fruit that comes from an open Book, allowing the word of God to do the work. Psa. 119:19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me. To be seers we have to be seekers. We get truth out of the Bible according to the attitude we bring to it. Help us be more of a stranger in the earth, having renounced the things of this world, and recognized there is a new world coming. If we renounce our rights to things down here, then we know there is no reason for you to hide the truth you have reserved for us. Help us today to establish our hearts so firmly in heaven, nothing on earth can pull us away. And we dont want this to be just pious talk, but a genuine walk. That is why we say, Psa. 119:20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. I break it today, as Mary did her alabaster box, just for you Jesus. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 4-6; John 4:1-27 Wednesday, May 15 Rev. 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. Holy Lord and Heavenly Father: Some promises are made to him that overcometh. This implies a great deal of opposition and warfare to get revival. Overcoming requires conflict. I suppose no one ever overcame who had an easy life. What did they overcome if it were easy? Maybe this is why so few really rich people enter the kingdom of God (Matt. 19:23-24). And maybe that means it is easier for believers in other lands to win the prize than it will be for me. Lord Jesus, let me at least conquer my wandering heart! I will have to fight hard for it. I will have to struggle against laziness, against an evil heart of unbelief, against the numbing TV-mentality of America. But in the name and power of him who calls me to revival, I am determined to wrestle and struggle until I yield my whole nature to you, O Lord. Rev. 2:4-5 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. With all the evil I condemn in others, I mourn my own personal share. Since you cannot allow your light to make me right apart from my love, let me not leave my first love or I will be left in darkness. Do not take away the comfort of your Spirit. Do not remove the wisdom of your word. I want to prove I value your light by benefiting from it and by sharing it, because I know you will cut-short my usefulness if I cut-short my love. Nothing will be accomplished if my heart is not in revival. Make it so for Jesus sake! Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 13-15; John 5:24-47 Saturday, May 18 Psa. 64:10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory. Gracious God: When I pray out loud it helps my concentration, but even mental prayer has a voice that you hear. My prayers that are unheard on earth (because of being unvoiced by my mouth) are still the best ones heard at your throne. I see David often turning to this prayer as his most powerful weapon. Remind me to turn (and return) to it today. I can use it under the pressures of inward sin and outward strife. I am sure I act most wisely when I make prayer my first recourse and my most trusted resource in any hour of need. Thank you Lord, for knowing how to give me peace. You are more than a match for all my haters. You can defeat both their best-laid secret plans and their open hostilities. Sometimes slander is their stealth weapon. I am sure I can expect malicious people to wield it effectively. As soldiers ground their swords to give them a cutting edge that will deeply wound, so do some people invent false motives calculated to inflict pain, and sever my good relationships with others. They stab at reputation. They kill even the honor of being righteous. What is there an evil tongue will not say? I seek for your protection! Do not let me learn the arts of self-defense; I do not need them as much as I need you. My protection is in better hands than my own! Unbelievers may fear, but I am a child of God. I confess my security in your power and justice. You will not forget your promises, even when I have forgotten them. Help me depend on them this day so I do not have to respond in kind, but can respond supernaturally through the strength of your Spirit, because it is only on him I rely. Amen.

GOD moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform; He plants His footsteps in the sea and rides upon the storm. Deep in unfathomable mines of never failing skill He treasures up His bright designs and works His sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take; the clouds ye so much dread Are big with mercy and shall break in blessings on your head. Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, but trust Him for His grace; Behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face. His purposes will ripen fast, unfolding every hour; The bud may have a bitter taste, but sweet will be the flower. Blind unbelief is sure to err and scan His work in vain; God is His own interpreter, and He will make it plain. William Cowper, 1774

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

WEDNESDAY

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
