GENESIS AND FUNCTIONS OF BOI

> > BoI was created in 1971 in IB. Charged with the responsibilities of collecting foreigners related intelligence, besides performing immigration functions. Out of 81 ICPs BoI manages 27 ICPs as below:

12 FRROs functions under BoI, besides 716 FROs. BoI is nodal agency on all Immigration matters. Brings in uniformity in immigration functions at all ICPs. Open, delete and modify LOCs centrally. Implementation of Mission Mode Project (MMP) on Immigration, Visa, Foreigners, Registration and Tracking (IVFRT). Organizes Training Courses on Immigration & Airport Security for State Police officers. Sensitizes ICPs and FRROs / FROs on developing trends / modus operandi in human trafficking and forgeries.

STAKE HOLDERS IN IMPLEMENTATION OF IVFRT

MMP on IVFRT under e-governance plan was approved by the Cabinet in 2009 with a vision to develop a secure and integrated service delivery framework that facilitates legitimate travelers while strengthening security. This MMP has following stake holders :

MHA Nodal Agency for overall implementation and coordination with Department/Agencies. concerned Ministries/

BoI -- Nodal agency for implementation of different

modules under IVFRT at ICPs, FRROs, FROs etc. in the country. IVFRT at Indian Missions & Passport Offices as well as setting up of Support Centre on Visa matters.

MEA -- Co-ordinate implementation of different modules under

NIC -- Technical agency for over all implementation of MMP on

IVFRT in consultation with all stake holders.

Others--Indian Missions, FRROs/FROs, State/UT Administration,

MOIA, Customs, Cabinet Secretariat etc.

Installation of PRMs (67 ICPs), QDX machines (28 ICPs) Web Cameras (10 ICPs) & CCTV for Immigration requirements (8). Centralized APIS implemented at 25 Airports.
