Nuclear Energy Power Plant

Kyle Julicher

Blueprint
The entire powerplant is broken down into different sectors but work together to produce energy

Containment Vessel
made of layers of thick concrete and steel purpose is to protect against radiation leaking into the environment

The Reactor
coolant-filled vat where the fuel rods are located control rods (blue) regulates the rate of the nuclear reaction submerging control rods shuts down the power plant totally
fuel rods control rods

Second Vessel
left blue pipe pumps cold coolant into reactor core right red pipe draws hot coolant into the steam generator Critical for coolant to be flowing through the system

Steam Generator
the steam generator then sends the collected steam to the turbine through the steam line (top gray pipe)

cont.

The steam is the force that powers the turbine

Turbine & Condenser

The condenser sends the newly cooled liquid it produces back to the steam generator in order to maintain the core temperatures required

cont.

the cooling water condenser also sends coolant to the coolant tower

Coolant Tower
Coolant tower decreases the temperature of the liquid moving through it so it can be recycled through the condenser or discharged into the environment

Generators

The generators are connected to transformers
