Anticipation Guide for The Glorious Revolution

Why Use Anticipation Guides?

Anticipation Guides used to assess students background knowledge on a particular subject. They highlight important topics that students should investigate during reading, videos, articles, etc.

Instructions: Before watching the documentary Monarchy: The Glorious Revolution, read each statement and check-off if you agree or disagree with the following statements. Some statements are true and some are false. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK285ZKLioY After deciding whether you or not you agree or disagree with each statement, break into small groups of 3 to discuss your answers and why you chose them. After your discussions, we will begin to watch the film The Glorious Revolution and you will reevaluate your each statement and determine if your responses remain the same, or if they have changed. Once the film has concluded, we will enter into a class discussion to discuss the answers you chose before, and how they changed or remained the same. Statement 1. The Glorious Revolution influenced Englands politics, but also religion. 2. The Dutch conquest of 1688 transformed England into the most powerful and modernizing state in Europe. 3. James was King of England during the revolution. 4. Whigs believed in a powerful central government and Catholicism. 5. The Army forbade Catholics from joining the service. 6.
