INSTALLATION AND START-UP OF MULTIPSK AND CLOCK To install the programs on your hard disk, from the WINDOWS Explorer:

1) Create an empty temporary directory, for example "C:\TEMP" (but it could be "F:\TEMP", "F:\" being your USB stick), 2) Download MULTIPSK.ZIP from the F6CTE WEB site (http://f6cte.free.fr/index_anglais.htm): "To download the last version of Multipsk and Clock, click here" or "Download Here". Afterwards click on "Save as", targetting the C:\TEMP. 3) Unzip the MULTIPSK.ZIP file to the empty temporary directory, "C:\TEMP". For this, put the mouse cursor over the MULTIPSK.ZIP file and click on the right button of the mouse (a menu pops up). Click on "Extract all", make display the target directory "C:\TEMP\" and click on "Extract". ATTENTION: don't unzip MULTIPSK.ZIP from the desktop. If you do this, you will have a lot of files on it (the desktop is a sort of directory)! 4) From the temporary directory, not from MULTIPSK.ZIP, with the Windows Explorer, start the INSTAL file: 4.1) if you are installing the program for the first time, choose, for example, "C:\MULTIPSK" or "C:\MULTIPSK" (for a USB stick). If you are updating any previous version, use the actual directory name, 4.2) double-click on "Automatic installation or updating" Note: your configuration files will not be modified, because they will be automatically created, only in case of absence. IMPORTANT: as there is no change in the Windows registers base (and so no problem of uninstallation), the application files can be installed manually (with Windows Explorer) in any directory. Once the "Multipsk" group installed in the "Start" menu, MULTIPSK will start automatically. The configuration screen opens first. You must click the RX/TX button to access the main screen. Ignore if Windows sends an error message saying that Instal.exe has not been installed. It is more practical to start the program rather than with Explorer or with the Windows "Start" menu: you can create a shortcut on the desktop for MULTIPSK and another one for CLOCK. IMPORTANT: Clock must be started as administrator to be able to update the PC time. For this, just right-click on the Clock.exe file, select "Properties" and choose the "Compatibility properties" or "Advanced properties". Check on "Run as administrator" (Level privilege). To create a shorcut on the desktop, for "MULTIPSK": * with Explorer, go to the directory where MULTIPSK has been installed, * left click on the file name ("MULTIPSK"), * right click and then left click on "Create a shortcut", * fetch the shortcut "MULTIPSK" (icone with a little arrow)

and place it on the desktop. The help file can be started from MULTIPSK, or by double-clicking on "HELP_PSK.CHM". For help on CLOCK, click "HELP_CLO.CHM". In case of error message such as Action cancelled or DNS error, to unblock the blocked CHM file: * In Windows Explorer, right-click the blocked file, and then click Properties. * In the General tab, click Unblock. Once the installation completed, delete the INSTAL.EXE file from the directoty C:\TMP (or F:\TMP if USB stick) directory, to use this empty temporary directory at the next updating. Hints and contextual help: * many buttons have a hint which is obtained by remaining a fraction of second with the mouse pointed on the button, * a contextual help (i.e. depending on the selected mode) is obtained by clicking with the right button of the mouse, the cursor of this one being located over a mode button ("BPSK31", for example). Multipsk is conceived for a Windows system: from the 95 version to Windows 7. Note for the LINUX users (under WINE): The DLLs are not recognized under Linux. Multipsk uses very few DLLs, and only for very auxiliary functions which are: * the HB9TLK interface for SdR receivers, * calculation of CPU load (button "CPU"), * option "DirectSound" for the pseudo-modes "Filters" and "Binaural". QUICK PRESENTATION OF THE SOFTWARES This software will run on a fast computer (PC at 166 MHz or more), under Windows, with a sound card (input) connected to the receiver output and the sound card output to the transmitter input. MULTIPSK codes (when transmitting) and decodes (when receiving) a number of amateur radio digital modes, such as Morse, RTTY, SSTV, HF Fax, MFSK16, BPSK31, Hellschreiber, Packet, Domino, Olivia etc. CLOCK extracts date and time from FRANCE_INTER, DCF77, HBG and RUGBY, WWVB, WWV-WWVH and from a GPS. It can synchronize your computer clock, if you have the registred version. Click on "Functions of the software, schematic of the connections and typical set-up" in HELP_PSK and HELP_CLO for more details. UNINSTALLATION OF THE MULTIPSK AND CLOCK APPLICATIONS As there is no change in the Windows registers base, these applications can be uninstalled manually (with Windows Explorer) by deleting the folder containing the Multipsk and Clock files. POSSIBLE (AND RARE) PROBLEM OF THE CHM FILES (HELP FILES) It is possible that when you click on a subject in the index, it is said that the program cannot display the webpage. One solution is to change "CHM" file type in file properties from opens with Microsoft(r) Html Help Executable to opens with Internet explorer. "Files properties" are available in the Windows Explorer, menu "Tools...<Files or Folder options>.

In any case, PDF versions of the help files are in my WEB site (http://f6cte.free.fr). Note: the Acrobat Reader 7.0 version does not seem able to manage these bif PDF files. However, earlier versions (5.0 or 6.0 for example) work well. RECOMMENDATIONS: These softwares and all additional files (except the registration file "USER.TXT" or "USER.COD") may be freely copied and distributed, but in unmodified state. This software can be used for non-commercial purposes only. This program cant be neither modified nor adapted or integrated in other products.
