BDFPA 4 Nations Powerlifting Championships 2013

The BDFPA 4 Nations Powerlifting Championships will be held at The Brentwood Centre, Brentwood, Essex on Saturday 6th July 2013. Competition Organisers: Organisers are Pete Sparks and David Hodgson representing the Metropolitan Police Weightlifting Club (MPWLC) and Brentwood Barbell Club (BBC). Rules: The competition will be run in accordance with the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association BDFPA (BDFPA) rulebook. The lifters will receive a Schwartz/Malone formula based on their bodyweight. The Schwartz/Malone is multiplied by the best weight lifted by the individual to identify the best lifter. For the team event the best Schwartz/Malone score for a pre-agreed number of lifters from each team will be added to identify the best team. Both unequipped and equipped lifters are eligible, however equipped lifters total score will be reduced by 25% when added to their teams scores. Teams: There will be a maximum number of lifters for each team of 8 persons. At this stage I propose a to count number of scores of 4 males and 1 female from each team. This will allow each team to use the best scores from lifters on the day from their team. In addition it will also allow for those coming from further afield to have a smaller team. If Nations want to enter more than one team, only the team with the higher scores will count in the team event. The venue will allow for about 40 lifters. Selection: It is proposed that each Nation has a team manager who will coordinate the selection of their competitors. Facilities: The competition will be staged in a studio with callebrated equipment and sufficient space for spectators. The warm-up area is the MPWLC/BBC gym and has three warm-up areas with ample equipment and weight. Only officials, coaches and competitors will be allowed into the warm-up area. Timings (TBC): Loaders/Spotters: Referees: Weigh in 09001030 hrs. Lifting commences 1100 hrs. MPWLC and BBC.

It is hoped that BDFPA referees will assist.

Dress: All lifters are to wear approved leotards and optional belt and wrist wraps for unequipped. Equipped lifters must only wear approved support equipment. Refreshments: The venue is a large Leisure Centre and has a number of locations where refreshments can be purchased. Celebration meal: Should there be sufficient interest the organisers will willingly arrange a meal at a venue local to the competition. Travel: Air Stansted Airport is 30 miles and about a 45 minute drive from the venue. Southend Airport is 20 miles and about a 30 minute drive from the venue. Both Airports are served by National Rail to London Liverpool Street Station. Car junction 28 (A12) of the M25 is 3 miles and about a 10 minute drive from the venue. Train Brentwood Station is served by London Liverpool Street Station and is 2 miles and about a 10 minute drive from the venue.
