The Bruce Anchor was invented in Scotland to secure floating oil rigs. In the oil industry, anchoring is a serious business: an oil rig must remain stationary over its drill hole regardless of wind or sea conditions to prevent both financial and environmental disasters. The superiority of the Bruces shape gives it tremendous efficiency, particularly on short scope over a variety of bottom conditions. Based upon field testing and engineering studies, Lloyds of London approved the replacement of a 45,000 pound conventional oil rig anchor with a 14,331 pound Bruce. The Bruce has earned an Award of Special Merit for Engineering Products Award from the Design Council. Constructed of a single piece of cast steel, each Bruce Anchor shown here has no moveable parts nor any flimsy components. This allows each to be covered by a lifetime warranty* against breakage.
construction in heat-treated cast steel gives the Bruce greater strength than any other patented anchor of similar weight and supports its unique warranty* coverage.
**The makers urge mariners, whenever possible, to avoid anchoring in living coral to avoid damaging this important ecosystem.
Over and over again, it held when my Danforth let go. A proven test and reliable product. M. Goldstone Birmingham, AL Everyone else drags and WE DONT! We luv Bruce. Don & Sally Johnson Pensacola, Fl
It doesnt plow it digs in and you stay where you intended. Sets quickly and stays even when changing directions. Holds in more bottoms than other anchors. Oh nice to sleep again! * Storm conditions assume winds up to Force 9 (47 knots) and some protection from the sea, fair holding ground and proper anchoring technique. Yachts with unusual windage or which may anchor in more exposed locations should carry heavier anchors and matching ground tackle.
