[] (U) Forward tell track to CONR and NORAD. If the track is not within radar coverage, but is within FAA
coverage (in CONUS), the ARTCC should forward position reports to the SOCC, not to exceed 10 minutes.

OPREP-3/PINNACLE hardcopy message within 1 hour. All OPREP-3 hardcopy messages will
be reviewed by the DO prior to sending. (When the DO is not available the MCC can review the
hardcopy) Refer to AFMAN 10-206, Table 3.1, rule IOC and notes 1,2,3,4 for additional addressees.

[] (U) Contact CONR and relay all information. Relay any request from FAA for escort mission.
[] (U) Informs the escort pilots the reason for the mission and completes an armament safety check.
[] (U) Advise the escort pilots to "Strangle Mode 3A and 3C" so as not to activate the aircraft terrain collision
avoidance system.
[] (U) During the approach phase, escort aircraft are to be vectored so as to approach the hijacked aircraft
from the rear to avoid the possibility of being observed. When escort aircraft are 30 nautical miles from the
hijacked aircraft, positioning instructions will be confirmed.
[] (U) Escort aircraft pilots must be kept advised of the hijacked aircraft's heading, altitude, speed, bearing and
range from the escort aircraft.
[] (U) The intercept must be planned so as to position the escort aircraft at the same altitude, speed and heading
of the hijacked aircraft at a point no closer than minimum separation to the target. Without intercept
authority, closure must be no closer than 10 NM. With intercept authority, the fighters will roll
out 5 nautical miles in the US, or 10 nautical miles in Canada, directly behind the hijacked aircraft.

IF ESCORT MISSION IS UNDER FAA CONTROL:
[] (U) Have the ASO/T direct the computer to retain the JORT discs (covering the period of the incident) for
30 days or until released by DOC.
[] (U) Have the ASO/T retain the air to ground recording tapes and tag them with the following information:
Nature of incident, aircraft callsign, Track number, Date and Zulu time.
MARK: " Save until called for. DO NOT DESTROY WITHOUT NEADS/DOC AUTHORITY".
[] (U) Complete NORAD Alert Forces Flying report and forward to CONR.
[] (U) Log information in the MCC/T logbook to include: Notification calls with time and initials, Location of
R/T tapes, JORT disc numbers, Name and rank of crew personnel on duty.

[] (U) Assign a TT to monitor track and confirm track is being told out to
adjacent sectors.
[] (U) Confirm validity of data with DQM.
[] (U) Notify MCC of valid squawk.
[] (U) If military assistance is requested:
[] Log track number.
[] Log time track reclassified.
[] Log time event ended.
[] If data reduction requested from MCC/T, call CPST x6750, give them
track number, event start and stop time ten minutes prior and ten
minutes after the event occurred .
[] (U) Ensure DQM has obtained site settings for the appropriate sites.
[] (U) Check voice recorders periodically.
[] (U) If fighters are scrambled:
[] Log track number.
[] Log scramble time.
[] Log airborne time.
[] Log call signs.
[] (U) Ensure "Z" track is initiated at the point data is lost.
[] (U) Ensure all surveillance checklists are complete.
[] (U) Notify MCC of checklist complete.

1. (U) SPECIAL 17 / UNKNOWN:
[] Bring up TRACK TD.
[] Lateral Tell to appropriate sector(s) and the RADIL.
[] Brief ASO/T of air situation and when checklist complete.
[] Monitor altitude, heading and speed, inform the ASO/T of any significant changes (As
a minimum, +/- 50 knots, +/- 5,000 feet, +/-15 degrees, or as directed by the ASO/T).
[] Insert a Reference Point with the current Zulu time in the REF field and a C
(for create) in the T field if there is a 90 degree or greater heading change.
[] Initiate/maintain tracks within 25 nm.
[] If active data is lost:
[] Extrapolate symbology.
[] Notify ASO/T.
[] Initiate a "Z" track with a Z in the I field and time Z track initiated as the
track number: O- 0001-0959,1- 1000-1959 and Z- 2000-2359.
[] Notify ASO/T when active data is reestablished.
