A. 1. Can you name the famous Turkish actors and actresses below?

B. Read the text and organize the paragraphs.

T U R K I S H C I NE M A
a. In 1990, Turkey became a member of the European Support Fund (EURIMAGES). It is evident that this membership has made a great contribution to the efforts by the Turkish film industry to reach international audiences. Most of the films which have been produced in recent years received great interest both at home and abroad. Today there are many international film festivals held in different cities in Turkey such as stanbul, Ankara, zmir and Antalya. These festivals bring different kinds of films like animation, thrillers, comedies and documentaries from different countries around the world. These festivals provide morale and financial support to Turkish cinema and encourage film-makers to produce high quality films. They also help Turkish cinema to spread into the international arena. The beginning of cinema in Turkey goes back to the year after the Lumire brothers gave their first cinematographic show in 1895. Initial showings in Turkey were private ones which were held at the Sultans court, the Yldz Palace in stanbul. As the film industry began to produce more realistic and better films, it began to win back its old audiences. As a result, the number of cinema-goers increased, and so did the investment and state interest. Today, Turkish cinema has reached its own distinguished level. Now it is successful enough to compete with the powerful foreign movie industry at international film festivals. Although cinema came to Turkey in the late 1890s, the actual start of film-making was much later. After the first film, a documentary, Ayastefanostaki Rus Abidesinin Ykl, was made in 1914, Turkish cinema encountered many difficulties. The film industry lacked the necessary organization, audience and legal support needed to compete internationally for many years.
