NURSING CAREERS: ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY Information on Different Nursing Career Options: An Annotated Bibliography This paper has annotations of articles I read while trying to find out about different nursing careers. All of the articles are about fields of nursing that I am interested in as future careers. The fields include: forensic nursing, cardiac nursing and neonatal nursing. These articles helped me find more information about these careers. GIVING SMALL PATIENTS BIG CARE. (1995). Nursing, 25(8), 77-78.

This article is about neonatal nursing and pediatric nursing. This article is about a specific pediatric nurse, Terry McKeever, and why she enjoys her job. She talks about her role as a pediatric nurse. She explains the pros and cons of working with infants. This article did help me because I think being a pediatric nurse would be another nursing career I would enjoy. Smeulders, E. S., Van Haastregt, J. C., Ambergen, T., Uszko-Lencer, N. H., JanssenBoyne, J. J., Gorgels, A. P., ... Kempen, G. I. (2010). Nurse-led self-management group programme for patients with congestive heart failure: Randomized controlled trial. Journal of Advanced Nursing, 66(7), 1487-1499. doi: 10.1111/j.1365-2648.2010.05318.x This article is about a program that was put in place in order to help patients with congestive heart failure. The program was supposed to help the patients improve self-care behavior and their quality of life. This program wanted to focus on psychosocial parts of the patients lives rather than the medical aspects of their lives. The study found that the 12 month program improved symptom management, cardiac life quality and self behavior but it did not have a significant impact on depression or anxiety among the patients. It was

true effectiveness. This article did not help me because it didn't really talk about cardiac nursing. VJ, K. (1995). Moral distress and providing care to dying babies in neonatal nursing. Moral Distress and Providing Care to Dying Babies in Neonatal Nursing, 13. Retrieved February 28, 2013. This article is about how moral distress is related to taking care of dying babies. It talks about the ethical and moral dilemmas when taking care of dying babies. This article did not help me because it talks about the emotional struggles and that's not really what I'm looking for at the moment. Wallman, C. (2009). Advanced practice in neonatal nursing. Pediatrics, 123(6), 16061607. doi:10.1542/peds.2009-0867 This article is about the roles of neonatal nurses or anyone in the neonatal nursing field. It talks about the importance of these people to medical centers and families. It also gives suggestions to the AAPN on what they should include in their facilities and work ethic. This article was helpful to me because it talked about the different types of specialist and nurses. It doesn't have too much information though. It's a good article to branch off of because I can take the terms they briefly explained and look up more about them. Yost, J. W. (2006). Forensic Nursing. FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, 75(2), 7. This article talks about forensic nursing and the different fields of forensic nursing. The different fields of forensic nursing are correctional nurse, geriatric nurse, pediatric nurse, etc. It talks about the different roles forensic nurses play

in crime scene investigations and the like. The article closed by explaining how forensic nursing, even though it is a newer concept, has helped link the fields of law and medicine. This article was useful to me because it informed me about this type of nursing and taught me a lot about it that I did not know.
