"Bias." Dictionary of Conflict Resolution, Wiley. Hoboken: Wiley, 2002. Credo Reference. 1 Jan. 2002. Web. 28 Feb. 2013. <http://www.credoreference.com/entry/wileyconfres/bias>. This article talks about the bias that some judges and officials show to a certain parties in a hearing or dispute. Showing favoritism to a certain party can get people in major trouble is the business of law enforcement. Judges and others people can lose their jobs over showing bias towards a certain ethnicity or race. In the mind of a judge they are taught not to show bias. That is why getting into the mind of a judge is essential in knowing their tactics and if in fact they do some of these things in secret that have been banned by the courts.

"Criminal." World of Criminal Justice, Gale. Farmington: Gale, 2002. Credo Reference. 11 May 2004. Web. 4 Mar. 2013. <http://www.credoreference.com/entry/worldcrims/criminal>. A criminal has a very complex and in depth mind. They think in ways that most people don't normally do. With that in mind judges have to make decisions and sometimes think like a criminal themselves. Criminals have changed over the years, forcing law enforcements and the sentencing that they are given to increase. With these drastic measures the states and government are hoping to cut down on crime and the number or felons and criminals. The mindset of judges has to be strict in these situations and make sure their decisions will influence these people to not attempt these criminal acts again.

"The Judicial System." Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law. Springfield: MerriamWebster, 1996. Credo Reference. 1 June 2006. Web. 4 Mar. 2013. <http://www.credoreference.com/entry/mwdlaw/the_judicial_system>. There are many different types of law that crimes and offenses can be classified into. For example constitutional law is a major branch of that all law is based off of. The laws in the constitution laid the ground work for statutory law which is each states personal law system. The court systems are also set up in this type of way. The Supreme Court is the highest court system in the country and then state federal systems follow the rules of the supreme and can also set up their own specifications to sentencing and the process to which criminals are convicted and sentenced. With this in mind I am interested to know how the different court types deal with crimes. The mindset of a higher ranking judge may be different then a lower ranking one. A powerful title tends to give people a false sense of power and entitlement.

"Mandatory Sentences." World of Criminal Justice, Gale. Farmington: Gale, 2002. Credo Reference. 11 May 2004. Web. 4 Mar. 2013. <http://www.credoreference.com/entry/worldcrims/mandatory_sentences>.

Sentencing is an area that tends to deal the most with the mind of the judge and the jury. Ultimately it is the judges opinion that puts the person in jail forms certain amount of time. Over time sentencing has become more severe and the power has slowly been taken from the jurors and been handed to the judge. In some instances the judge has the persons life in their hands and control whether they line or die for what they have done. Tense situations like this would be a gold mine of information on the mind of a Judge and their opinions and thoughts during such a time. Being faced with such a touch decision stresses the mind of a person and tears their thoughts apart and seeing this from a judicial standpoint would be outstanding.

"Profiling." World of Criminal Justice, Gale. Farmington: Gale, 2002. Credo Reference. 11 May 2004. Web. 4 Mar. 2013. <http://www.credoreference.com/entry/worldcrims/profiling>. Criminal profiling is making a decision or inference based on the character of the criminal and the ways that they act. With certain statements or actions certain professionals can potentially break a case or convict them. Judges and very specific agents are taught to read these specific signs and use them to help

convictions and sentences. With this skill they can ,are better decisions in convicting criminals. Learning the mentality of criminals is a big upper hand in the criminal justice world.
