LANTIS
The LANTIS Oncology Information System is a complete Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Comprehensive in its design, simple to use, and integrated at every level, LANTIS provides the tools necessary to achieve the best possible care for patients undergoing cancer treatment. The LANTIS system accommodates diagnosis and staging information, and manages the administrative tasks necessary in the delivery of care. The LANTIS system reports utilization and outcomes across disease sites. Treatment verification and recording is an integral part of a comprehensive process that includes registration, charting, scheduling, planning, simulation, code capture, billing, reporting, and quality management. The LANTIS modules operate from a single database. This high degree of integration provides the user significant benefits. Selecting the patient's scheduled appointment using the LANTIS Supervisor option at the treatment machine allows the fields to be delivered and the billing codes to be captured automatically. With the LANTIS Digital Photos and Facts option, digital ID and setup photos can be associated with a field and displayed during treatment or simulation. With the LANTIS RTP Link/DICOM RT option, treatment parameters are imported directly from the treatment planning systems via DICOM RT Plan or RTP file.

eChart Navigator provides patient status at a glance and a simple means to navigate within the patient chart.

The patients electronic chart stores all the information required to deliver quality verifiable radiation treatments.

LANTIS Modules Making Information Work for You

Multiple Department Extension (MDE) helps centralize management of the oncology practice by identifying a single location where information from multiple departments is stored and easily retrieved. High-efficiency architecture utilizes a single database for multiple radiation oncology departments.

Supervisor centralizes and manages patient, staff, and location schedules, which are among the most time-consuming administrative duties in oncology departments today. With Supervisor comes automated charge capture for treatment procedures, relieving staff of this routine paperwork.

Gateway interfaces oncology management procedures with the Hospital Information System (HIS), billing systems, and laboratory systems to optimize the flow of critical patient information and automate administrative communications.

Multiple Department Extension Supervisor

Digital Photos and Facts provides greater peace of mind by confirming patient identification and field or setup information to ensure accurate treatment delivery every time. Captured digital images can be imported into LANTIS and maintained within the patients EMR.

Transcriber adds document management to the functionality of LANTIS, bringing the fully electronic medical record a step closer.

RTP Link/DICOM RT
RTP Link/DICOM RT imports plans for standard, conformal, forward planned or inverse planned treatment fields, as well as Multi-Segmented Fields (MSFs), directly from the treatment planning system to the patients electronic chart. It helps assure quality treatment while saving time.

eScan

Clinical Assessments
Clinical Assessments tracks patient progress through treatment protocols, enhances delivery of customized care based on relevant assessments, and facilitates Evidence Based Medicine.

eScan is the ultimate tool for a paperless environment. With eScan, external paper documents can be scanned into the LANTIS database and stored in the respective patient file for easy access.

Diagnosis and staging lays the groundwork for oncology EMR auto-staging, and optional on-line staging reference material is available.

LANTIS includes a comprehensive list of filterable reports to assist the practice management.

Commander
The LANTIS Commander is the core of the comprehensive suite of LANTIS software modules. It is important to track outcomes as a means of quantifying services based on quality, as well as cost. Diagnosis and staging information is an essential component in establishing the baseline for outcome studies. With the LANTIS system, diagnoses are easily entered and form the basis of subsequent clinical and administrative procedures. The chart manages user-defined courses of care including unlimited prescription sites, treatment fields, and clinical activities. Use of industry standards, such as Health Level 7 (HL-7) and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM), assure reliable data exchange with external systems. The LANTIS network consists of powerful server software and uses a relational database engine. Local or wide-area network configurations are available.

Multi-Vendor Open-System Interfaces


No matter what mix of treatment and simulation machines is in the department, the LANTIS system interfaces with all major equipment models. Such compatibility demonstrates Siemens commitment to an open-system interface strategy. The LANTIS multi-vendor open system interfaces medical devices with the vital setup information stored in the EMR. Clinics can configure which parameters are enabled for this function on each machine. The LANTIS system can be configured to verify the specific treatment unit, beam and geometric parameters, and encoded accessories. User-defined tolerances give control over the level of precision enforced, while providing flexibility for minor setup variations. The system allows only authorized users to override setup discrepancies, and allows a second therapist to log in individually for a more accountable treatment record. The LANTIS interfaces support all vendors techniques for delivering IntensityModulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). Complex sequences of beams are delivered quickly and precisely without operator intervention. These interfaces and special accelerator technology enable even complicated treatments to be delivered in the shortest amount of time.

Supervisor
Scheduling is perhaps one of the most important facets of computer-assisted process management. Many of the problems inherent with paper-based scheduling systems are solved with the automatic, timesaving features of the LANTIS Supervisor option. Prompt quality care is the key to patient satisfaction. Keeping on schedule requires carefully planning appointments, accurately estimating visit durations, and quickly reacting to the changes that inevitably occur. Schedules for staff, patients, and other resources can be accessed from any LANTIS workstation to review notes and patient status information in real time. Wave scheduling automates the scheduling of multiple appointments in virtually any pattern. Notification is immediately provided in the event of a conflict, and options for resolution are displayed. The LANTIS Supervisor option includes a number of timesaving features including sophisticated find features that enable the user to quickly locate a patients appointment on the schedule, or identify an open appointment or a block of appointments based on the specified criteria. The LANTIS Supervisor module automates many management processes. Integrated procedure code capture helps track departmental activities as a result of caregiving rather than as an extra step. The LANTIS schedule provides an up-tothe-minute account of department activity, reporting the number of completed appointments, cancellations, no-shows, and unresolved appointments for any day or date range. Using the LANTIS Multiple Department Extension option with the LANTIS Supervisor allows multiple departments or clinics to maintain separate schedules and procedure codes, yet share a common patient database for enterprise-wide management and reporting. The LANTIS Supervisor module is an active administration tool that helps optimize department time and resources by centralizing department scheduling and automating schedule administration.

Digital Photos and Facts


With the LANTIS Digital Photos and Facts option, a digital photograph of the patients face can be stored in the EMR as a means of identification and verification. When the photo is contained in the EMR, it is available at the click of a button at any workstation. Acquiring setup photographs, figures, and diagrams is easy to do in the LANTIS software. Digital images can be acquired in real time and stored for import. When imported, each diagram or photo is associated with a patient, prescription site, or field. LANTIS can also display setup photos. This setup and positioning information is simultaneously displayed on the operators console and inside the treatment room using the LANTIS Treatment Room Extension option. This display is an indispensable aid in reproducing the treatment setup. A list of all images is accessible with one keystroke from eChart Navigator. Therefore, image records, such as surgical photos, skin effects, or anatomical diagrams, are always available to the clinical staff. The LANTIS Digital Photos and Facts option imports images in industrystandard formats such as .bmp and .jpg. Most commercial scanners and digital cameras support these formats.

Extended Bar Codes


The LANTIS Extended Bar Codes option provides features that have a positive impact on productivity, quality of care, and patient satisfaction. These features include Chart Tracking, Film Tracking, Procedure Capture, Accessory Verification, and Automated Patient Queuing. The systems quick-start feature allows printing of all the bar codes required for a newly registered patient. For instance, print a patient selection bar code that can be applied to the patients ID card, chart, and film jacket. Patients can queue themselves upon arrival by simply swiping a bar-coded card through a scanner. Swipe the card as the patient arrives in other locations, and the patient queue is updated with current information. The patient queue can be accessed from any workstation for a real-time display of the patient location in the clinic. Throughout the day, the patient queue displays the changing number of queued patients, current locations, and appointment destinations, providing a quick means of assessing the clinics activity. The LANTIS Supervisor option provides a variety of scheduling reports for a detailed look at wait times and appointment durations. Extended bar coding enables tracking of charts and film jackets by scanning the attached bar code and then scanning the location or staff member bar code to indicate either where it is in the department or who has it. Any staff member can easily locate a chart or film jacket by displaying the chart or film tracking options.

Transcriber
The LANTIS Transcriber module takes any department one step closer to becoming paperless by using Microsoft Word processing software. Together with this software, patient documentation is managed integrally within the EMR. From Consultations and History and Physical to On Treatment Notes and Follow Up, all patient documents can be stored in LANTIS. Create multiple templates for each document type and merge information, such as Patient ID number, Referring Physician, Diagnosis, etc., that is stored in LANTIS. When a template is assigned to a patient, the appropriate information from LANTIS is automatically entered into the document. Use the on-site feature of LANTIS Transcriber to directly transcribe documents into the LANTIS application. Or use a remote transcription service by installing the off-site feature on the transcriptionist workstation. Documents transcribed remotely are easily batched and exported to LANTIS for import using the document import feature. When these documents are imported, they are automatically saved as part of the patients EMR with a status of Pending. Changing the status of each document is easy as it flows through the department, with choices such as Dictation Required or Transcription Required to Pending or Approved. Transcription edit and approval processes are controlled by the security privileges of the logged-in user.

Clinical Assessments
Assessment of patient status before, during, and after treatment is vital for assuring optimal patient care and for refining clinical pathways. Use the LANTIS Clinical Assessments option to assign quantitative or standardized values to key assessment indicators, which can then be used for gauging patient status and reporting outcomes. Patient information and assessments are organized in a series of electronic forms that can be customized. Everything from vital sign measurements to pain ratings, once recorded in the system, are made instantly available for viewing and comparison at any workstation. This ensures that all caregivers on a multidisciplinary team can immediately review a patients status by simply opening the EMR. The LANTIS database is populated with hundreds of assessment indicators that can be used to create custom electronic assessment forms for specific regimens, disease types, or symptom management. A patients performance status, lab values, pain rating, and other assessment items can be viewed at a glance. Alarms and warnings can be set to flag laboratory values and assessment levels that are out of the normal range. Colors can be assigned to threshold values for immediate visual indications of areas of concern. The LANTIS Clinical Assessments option expedites the documentation process by providing pop-up tables with predefined selections and by the direct electronic import of lab results into the EMR using the LANTIS Gateway option.

RTP Link/DICOM RT
The LANTIS RTP Link/DICOM RT option allows the EMR to be configured to communicate with treatment planning and beam shaping programs. The LANTIS RTP Link/DICOM RT option automates and streamlines the flow of information between planning, simulation, and treatment. The interface retrieves patient treatment planning data exported by the treatment planning system and populates the LANTIS database with field setup and dosimetry information. Entering the data required for advanced treatment techniques using multileaf collimators and automatic field sequencing (SIMTEC Delivery System) are made both efficient and practical with the LANTIS RTP Link/DICOM RT option.

When importing a plan, all treatment fields and corresponding parameters can be accessed and modified from one screen.

syngo Suite for Oncology


As imaging becomes increasingly important in oncology care, the syngo Suite for Oncology delivers the integration and functionality clinicians need today, while also providing a platform for the image-guided and Adaptive Radiation Therapy (ART) needs of the future. syngo Suite for Oncology enables all clinical team members oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, and therapists to easily access all the data and tools that they require to complete their tasks efficiently and accurately. Common components within the workspaces eliminate the need to learn different user interfaces; the data required to complete each task is seamlessly integrated into the workflow and can be accessed quickly, regardless of system storage location. syngo Suite for Oncology supports the clinical workflow from start to finish. LANTIS is integrated with the syngo Suite for Oncology and provides instant access to all patient information while using one monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

ESI Gateways
The delivery of healthcare services is an information-intensive effort, which has been conducted to a great extent on paper. As healthcare becomes computerized and department-specific applications become prevalent, interest in integrating the information related to delivery of healthcare has increased. The LANTIS Network Gateway ESI (External System Interface) option provides an industry-standard open-system interface to seamlessly connect the oncology department to the entire healthcare information infrastructure. This option includes: ADT Import Lab Result Import Procedure and Scheduling Export The interface is equipped to handle the import of admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) messages, so that the patients status is always kept current in LANTIS. Procedure codes captured and stored using the LANTIS Commander, Supervisor, or Extended Bar Codes option can be exported to HIS or billing systems using the LANTIS Gateway Advanced HL-7 option. Gateway Advanced HL-7 can be configured to meet the requirements of different countries for information to be available for reimbursement. Furthermore, Gateway Advanced HL-7 allows for the export of scheduling information, which, among others, can be useful for setting up DICOM Modality Worklist. The LANTIS Lab Result Import option can be configured to provide the direct electronic import of lab results into the LANTIS EMR the instant they become available, expediting the documentation process.

Patient demographics are imported from the HIS via the ADT Import Gateway.

The Lab Result Import option receives and stores laboratory results in Clinical Assessments.

LANTIS Reporter provides the tools to collect data from the LANTIS system and present them in customer formats.

Reporter
The ability to extract critical clinical information is a key requirement of any healthcare information management system. The LANTIS Reporter is an important tool for developing an accurate picture of the departments patient volume, cost structure, utilization, outcomes, and case mix. Diagnosis and staging information are essential components in establishing baselines for clinical studies. Once this information is in the LANTIS system, it can be easily reported with subsequent treatment and outcome information. Evidence Based Medicine requires tracking of statistically valid outcome measurements as a means of differentiating services based on quality rather than cost. The LANTIS Reporter tool transforms the raw material stored in the LANTIS database into informative reports that provide an effective tool for assessing departmental performance. Any data stored in the database can be reported on. The LANTIS system provides standard reports that can be user-configured by selecting filter and sort criteria from easy-to-read dialog boxes. The LANTIS Reporter kit provides tools to modify these standard reports and to custom-build new reports. With the LANTIS Reporter kit, critical management reports are available on demand. Whether analyzing resource utilization, comparing outcomes by protocol, or reviewing a cross section of the patient population, LANTIS saves hours of time and offers the benefit of more complete, accurate information for decision making. The LANTIS Reporter tools provide the ability to transform comprehensive data into valuable information for analysis and discovery.

Multiple Department Extension


The LANTIS Multiple Department Extension (MDE) option extends LANTIS from a single department application to a multiple department configuration. LANTIS MDE is specifically designed for clinics composed of two or more departments that want to share a common patient database, yet manage resources and administrative functions separately. The LANTIS MDE module provides a mechanism for oncology service providers to effectively subdivide into multiple workgroups while maintaining centralized control over certain administrative and clinical functions. The ability to manage patient data from a central location helps optimize resources, standardize patterns of care, and coordinate communication throughout the network. The LANTIS MDE option provides the ability to selectively assign staff, resources, activities, and processes to specific workgroups. The system limits user access to only those items that are assigned to the users workgroup, yet preserves a common patient database for managing clinical information throughout the provider network. As care providers collaborate to offer best practices, interest in integrating information has increased. Using the LANTIS MDE software with the LANTIS Supervisor option allows multiple departments or clinics to maintain separate schedules, yet share a common patient database for enterprise-wide management and reporting. Operational scenarios can be centralized, such as treatment planning using the DICOM RT Plan Import option, and protocol standardization. Summary reports, including utilization, charge, and activity summaries, can be performed across multiple departments. The LANTIS MDE option can be configured for operation with intra-facility workgroups on a common LAN, or with inter-facility workgroups that require a supplemental WAN infrastructure.

Each departments procedure codes can be managed independently.
