Section 3: Basic Configuration Skill ( 70 minutes -- 40 point) Apply a basic configuration to the router. This configuration should include all the normal configuration items as following requirements: 1. Configure the router hostname. 2. Disable DNS lookup. 3. Configure an EXEC mode password. 4. Configure a message-of-the-day banner.
5. Configure a password for console connections. 6. Configure a password for VTY connections.
7. Synchronize unsolicited messages and debug output with solicited output and prompts for the console and virtual terminal lines. 8. Configure the interfaces on the Central, Remote, Sales and Technic routers with the IP addresses from the table provided under the Topology Diagram and configure the correct bandwidth for the serial interfaces. Configure interface descriptions. Example: Connecting to Sales LAN. 9. Configure routing protocol for all routers as the exhibit: Router Central and Remote run RIP ver 2 routing protocol Router Remote, Sales and Technic run OSPF routing protocol
10. Configure a default route to the Internet on the Central Router and propagate the default route to all other routers using dynamic routing protocol. Configure static route on the router ISP to backward traffic to this company. 11. Configure workstation correctly: IP Address / Subnet mask, Default Gateway Section 4: Troubleshooting and QA ( 30 minutes 30 Points) Now that everything is successfully configured, the instructor will introduce some problems. The steps and commands used to correct these issues must be documented. The show running- config command should be used only as a last resort.
