Restore, Renew, Rejoice! Update

As previously reported, the results of the Feasibility Study conducted last November/December showed parishioner support of the Restore, Renew, Rejoice! project and has encouraged those who have been working diligently to prepare for the much needed renovations to our church building. Your feedback led to the creation of a new Building Committee, which is comprised of volunteer parishioners who are engineers, architects and builders. These consultants have analyzed the results of the Feasibility Study and, with their expertise, have been working with the architect to provide solutions to expressed concerns regarding particular elements of the original design. The Committee is currently reviewing the latest design and costing option. The revised designs will be shared with the parish once they are finalized and approved by the Building Committee. While we are anxious to begin work, especially on the Fire & Life Safety issues, it is worth taking some extra time now to ensure that the best possible design to meet both the current and future needs of parishioners is achieved, as well as the need to stay focused on the financial budget requirements.

"Some people are so foolish that they think they can go through life without the help of the Blessed Mother. Love the Madonna and pray the Rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother." St. Padre Pio

Our Lady Of Sorrows Ecumenical Choir

Working wonders for the youth Mike was recently released from jail for serving time on drug convictions and needed a helping hand to get started again. He was given an opportunity by Covenant House, a ShareLife-supported agency, to learn the culinary arts. In the longer-term residence, Mike has stable housing for a year and access to all of the support services at Covenant House. His hard work and determination have paid off as he now has full responsibility for his station. An additional 40,000 people were also given food, shelter, guidance, care and education through ShareLife agencies. Please support ShareLife. Please give generously. You can work WONDERS! Formed in 2011, this exceptional choir under the direction of Our Lady of Sorrows Music Director Gordon Mansell, has already performed public concerts at Our Lady of Sorrows and a concert tour of Florence and Rome this past January and February 2013. Additionally, the 24 member SATB choir sang Masses at Assisi and in Rome. The highlight of the tour was singing Masses at St. Peters Basilica, including a Papal Mass in celebration of Candlemas presided by Pope Benedict XVI. Upon the success of this tour, the choir wishes now to continue and work towards another European tour and provide a service to our community. We are opening up opportunities for additional singers to join this unique ecumenical choir, growing it to 36 singers. If you have choir experience, a musical ear and a great collegial personality, then please email Gordon Mansell at gdmansell@sympatico.ca for an interview / audition time.
