2010

A one-day summit dedicated to developing leadership of the African Caribbean Society networks

It is with great delight that I welcome you to the 2010 ACS Leadership Summit.
For those of you who attended the inaugural ACS Leadership Summit in Whitehall, London last year, we have come a long way since that evenings union. For those joining us for the first time, you could not have chosen a better time to become a part of the redefinition of tomorrow. Our actions today are driven by tomorrows outlook! The ACS Leadership Summit has been created to provide an environment for the African Caribbean Society leadership to share best practises, learn from leading thinkers and to connect with employers. We are proud of the organisations that share our vision and have demonstrated that commitment by participating at this years Summit. To our speakers, sponsors, partners and supporters, we would not exist without the common mode that links everything we do together. But more importantly, our vision will have no meaning if there is no community to serve! In the African Caribbean Society network rests the success of our projects and initiatives. This was demonstrated with the recent 2010 National ACS Survey which was completed by over 600 students from 42 universities. Such numbers could not have been achieved without direct action from individual universities ACS who promoted the survey directly to their network. This Summit has been created with you in mind. Directly or indirectly, it aims to compliment your individual aspirations. The ACS Leadership Summit is unconventional and we hope to maintain this approach. We plan to make the Summit an annual theme in the ACS calendar. Today represents a step towards achieving this goal as we welcome ACS Presidents from over 20 UK universities to this years Summit. As we continue to strive towards making the ACS Project dream a reality, we value our successes thus far. I encourage you to reach out to other delegates and interact as much as you can with representatives from our sponsors and partner organisations. At the end of today, please share your views and opinions on the summit by completing the feedback forms provided. This will ensure we are able to develop the Summit, increasing its scale, reach and impact in 2011. Finally, I would like to thank you for attending this years Summit. On behalf of the AC Company team, our sponsors, partners and supporters, we hope you find this event valuable and enjoyable.
