1. Details: - open daily 8am til Sunset around 6pm * go as early as possible to avoid crowd 2. Getting there: - The entrance to the Acropolis is off Theorias Street. From the Akropoli metro stop and New Acropolis Museum, walk west along Dionysiou Areopagitou Street and take the first right on to Theorias 3. See: - Opposite Akropoli metro station is the Temple of Olympian Zeus - On the Acropolis: The Parthenon, The Temple of Athena Nike, The Erectheion and The Propylea - South side: The Odeon of Herodes Atticus and The Theatre of Dionysis - Below Acropolis: New Acropolis Museum (Monday closed, Tuesday Sunday 8am-8pm) 1. Details: - a charming historic district at the foot of the Acropolis, with its restored 19th century neoclassical homes, pedestrianized streets, shops and restaurants, and picturesque ruins from the city's Roman era. 2. Getting there: - Go Monastiraki station, served by both Metro lines 1 and 3, and serves as the best access point for Plaka and Psiri

Day 3 Syntagma 10 April 2013 (Wednesday)

Lycabettus Hill

OR - walk from Acropoli station on line 2 to Plaka 3. See: - The Roman Agora/Roman Forum and The Ancient Agora (Both open 8am-3pm) Thissio, to the west side of the Acropolis, is very similar and now houses many restaurants and cafes. Between the two is Monastiraki, a very bohemian district increasingly popular with tourists, with stores selling a variety of items including antiques, cookware, souvenirs, arts and crafts, movie posters, punk culture, funky clothing, and pretty much anything you can think of. Getting there: - Take metro to Syntagma metro station, one of the worlds most beautiful metro station See: Hellenic Parliament Building, The Hotel Grand Bretagne, National Historical Museum (Tuesday-Sunday: 09.00-14.00) , The National Gardens (behind parliament building), the Benaki Museum and the museum of Cylcadic Art are nearby Walk to Kolonaki (around 1km away from Syntagma), at the foot of Lycabettus Hill shop-filled streets in Kolonaki Getting up Lycabettus Hill to watch twilight and the whole view of Athens:: - Funicular Railway, the world's weirdest train which leaves at the top of Ploutarchou street in Kolonaki and costs 2 euro each way OR - WALK
