Course Description: The leadership development platform rests in the fundamental premise that leadership is learned best through the integration of concepts and practice. Students will be exposed to a variety of leadership perspectives through reading, guest lecture and group discussions. In addition they will participate in experimental lab designed to provide them with direct experience applying leadership concepts in the context of their own team. Course Content: The basic premise of this course is that effective leaders create conditions that enable organisation members to maximally effective in their roles and that lead them to act in the organization best interests. The course would include the following: Meaning of leadership Theories of leadership Developing personal effectiveness Decision Making and implementation Diagnosing Power and Dependence Leading effective teams Effective organizational leaderships How to exercise leadership to solve problems Leading at different levels Assessing leadership and measuring its effects Personality traits and leadership

Method of Instruction: The course will be presented using a variety of methods, such as, lectures, case studies, current examples, class discussions and student presentations.

Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to : Develop a fundamental understanding of leadership and the skills manifest in effective leaders Understand how leadership, influence, and power are related various facets of organizational life at he individual, group and macro levels Know and practice different theories of leadership through leading teams and applying the problem solving approach on different levels Demonstrate comprehension of the elements and processes involved in decision making Assessing leadership and measuring its effects Learn Personality traits and leadership
