Kids on recess at the Christian kindergarten in Sandspruit slum, Johannesburg, South Africa

Home in Mozambique!
I made it to Mozambique last weekend. Finally. It took me three weeks longer than I expected, but it happened! ------ It really happened! The drive through Zimbabwe took three days instead of two, as even more delays cluttered our path (i.e. the need to pick up car parts, fix flat tires, and pay speeding fines!). But we were able to stay in nice hostels or with friends along the way, so it didnt matter much. Plus, we had no trouble (or custom fees to pay) going through the borders. Woohoo! On a whole, it was an easy and simple trip culminating in happy memories. Plus my time in South Africa was providential in that it provided me rest and encouragement for the work ahead (and Boy! Do I have work ahead!). But more importantly, it allowed me to bond wonderfully with those at Calvary Chapel Johannesburg. What a blessing they were too! All I can say is THANK YOU! for your prayers, support, and love. Rejoice with me that He has finally allowed me to come into my new home! With love, Stephanie

:: Prayer List ::
Paperwork: Pray for me to get my visa application papers translated quickly. Visa: In two weeks I plan to return to Zimbabwe to
the house. The view of the front of

start my visa process officially. Pray I can complete this step in 1 day.

My New Home
For those who think Im living in a mud hut, cooking over coal, and bathing in the river... let me reassure you. Im in a new land --one full of flushing toilets, electricity, and running water! ---Yes. I know. Im spoiled. My new home is a roomy onebedroom cottage with a wide front porch, full kitchen, living room, and bathroom. But lest you think Im too spoiled, know that rats live in my roof and I have no hot water. Ha!

Vehicle: There are a few exciting options already in terms of vehicles. Pray that the one I find would be solid and fuel efficient. Schooling: In order to start school, I need to get my visa and vehicle in order... or find a room to rent in Chimoio. Pray for direction. Dept. of Health: I need to go back and establish contact with the Dept. of Health in order to get the clinic started. But I sense the need for MASSIVE prayer first. Please pray. Nurse Needed: Sorry for all those nurses interested in volunteering... but this nurse needs to be Mozambican, a Christian, and an honest worker. Please pray for him/her to find us soon! Thanks.

Visa Obstacle Course...

What does it take to get a visa in Mozambique... Step One: Translate all official paperwork (aka: Police clearances, etc.) into Portuguese. Step Two: Go to Zimbabwe (with translated papers) to apply for the provisional visa (aka: pre-DIRI). This can take a day or two. Step Three: Once provisional visa is granted, apply for the year long visa (aka: DIRI) then pay lots of money. This can take awhile to be granted but is a mandatory before any ministry can be done and for me to be legal. Step Four: Renew DIRI each year for 3-5 years until resident status can be achieved. Then... resident visa.
