Dear Prof. Ilano, Greetings from the International School!

Thank you for your email concerning about the student from Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) coming to the International School (IS). We are pleased to inform you that the student has arrived in Thai Nguyen safe and sound. She is arranged to stay with the others in IS Dormitory and start her study since this Monday. In addition, we are making necessary arrangements to help them with visa extension and other registration formalities. They are doing fine with their stay and study here at the International School. Once again, thank you for your kind cooperation. It is our great pleasure to host more students from SLSU to come to the IS, which can be regarded as a further development of the nice relationship between our two institutions. Dear Mr. Michael, On 15 November, 2012, the ISTNU is holding an Opening Ceremony to welcome the new school year of 2012-2013 and to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers Day. The ceremony is designed to encourage our students, faculty and staff, and to report to stakeholders on our progress in establishing the International University. In this regard, could you please deliver a speech in the Opening Ceremony in which you express your feelings about the ISTNU in general and the event in particular? It is believed that with your wide experience in life and teaching, your speech will inspire the participants with strong motivation to work and study for their success in the future. We would highly appreciate if you could complete the speech by November 10, we need to translate it into Vietnamese so that all the participants could understand it. Thank you very much and we look forward to hearing from you soon. Best wishes and regards, Tracy Dear Dan, Thank you very much for your email asking about our student. Firsly, I am sorry for not duly keeping you updated about our student Binh An Nguyen because of unawareness of the Christmas Holidays in UK. I have just come back from a business trip and met our students yesterday. As for Binh An s situation, he is practicing his English at our school, but he seems quite slow on his improvement. In spite of being a hardworking student, Binh An has many difficulties learning English because he was a high school student with nearly no English. He has just taken a stimulating test organized by our university but the score is not as high as expected, which is only equal to IELTS 3.5. Therefore, he is advised by his English teacher to practice more to improve his English before taking an official IELTS test and getting an expected result. We are very sorry that he can not apply for an unconditional offer from your school to start his IELTSplus course as expected. Binh An really wants to come to MMU and study there in major of Business/Law in 2013, but now he has to learn English to meet the requirements of MMU. We will try our best to help him with this, he is expected to become our pioneer student at MMU in general and at MMU Language School in particular.

By the way, we have received Dr. David Orton from Business School of MMU last week. Our students had their opportunities to learn more about MMU and your academic members including Language School from his seminar MMU Introduction. They are very interested in studying at Language School to improve their English as well as to study their degree at MMU as international students. At present, our school is focusing on English program to provide our students with basic foundation for their study in UK in the future. In this regard, we strongly believe that MMU including Language School will give us your nice support to develop the program on our mutual benefit. Once again, thank you very much for your kind assistance and we look forward to our nice cooperation in near future. Best regards, Tracy Dear Dan, Thank you very much for your nice reply in which you give us positive information about the route for our students to come to study at MMU. We highly appreciate it that you have provided us with detailed indication based on which we will map our mind and make plans to send our students to your institution, not only for Binh An himself but also for our students who are interested in studying at MMU. Students in Vietnam in general and students at our school in particular show their desire for studying in UK but the biggest difficulty for them is that they have to meet the requirement of English (6.0-6.5 IELTS). In this regard, MMU Language School with many well-designed intensive English courses plays a vital part to help students with the requirement. We strongly believe that your nice support will enable us to send out our students to MMU, which helps us pursue our commitment of produce high quality man power for our country and furthermore, develop our strategic collaboration on basis of mutual benefits. In addition, it is our great pleasure to receive delegation from international partners including MMU, which give us opportunities for our more mutual-understanding and sustainable cooperation. Personally, I had chances to meet Ms. Susan from MMU Department of International Affairs, which was a very exciting experience and I am looking forward to having more staff and faculty to our institution. Once again, thank you for your kind support. We will always keep you informed about our plan to sending out our students and please kindly keep us updated about your English courses as well as other activities of your institution which should take our common concern. With all the best, Tracy Dear Dave, We will have delegation

Dear Mr. Dave, We will receive 30 students from Daegu University, Korea who will come and take their study tour at the International School from December 26, 2012 to January 30, 2013. I am writing this to inform you about tentative agenda for their study tour here at the IS. Dear Mr. Dave, Thank you for your information about Mr. An application. Please find the attached file of Conditional Offer for Mr. An from MMU Language School (LS). In fact, I have already forwarded to you the emails between Mr. Joseph Rose from LS and me concerning Mr. An application for IELTS Plus course in January. And in addition, we have also received reminding email from LS asking about Mr. Ans final decision, which I have already forwarded to you and Dr. Anh. I have asked Dr. Anh for Ans situation and he said that An needs time to improve his English before taking an official IELTS test. I will forward the emails again for your convenience in other two separate emails. Please kindly review and tell me your considerations. Thank you very much! Linh Dear Dave, Thank you for your reply. I would like to specify the plan for An as follows: At first, we had a plan for An to apply to IELTSplus course offered by MMU Language School (LS), which will start at January 7, 2013 with the entry requirement of 4.5 IELTS. I had built a plan for him to take an IELTS test in November or December, but after consulting with Mr. Michael and Ms. Hoa, who are the teachers of An in K2E Class and review the test of IS on Starting Skill 1, Dr. Anh told me that An would need time to practice English more before an official IELTS Test. I have answered the reminding email from LS as stated in the email I have forwarded to you. Mr. Daniel Peacock from LS gave us some advice on the plan for An to come to UK: (1) An shall apply to another IELTSplus course in September 2013 with the entry requirement is 4.0 IELTS. (2) An shall apply to Undergraduate Pre-sessional English course in June 2013 and start his degree course in Business/Legal Studies in September 2013 if he can get 5.0 IELTS before Summer. According to Ans progress in English, I think it is possible for him to get 5.0 IELTS before summer and attend Pre-sessional English course in June 2013, as long as he starts his focused IELTS practice from now. In fact, he is now just learning English with other IS students at Hoang Gia and practice himself at home. I think he needs to attend intensive IELTS preparation course to learn more about skills and tips before taking his IELTS test. But we have to wait for the result of the test on Starting Skill 2 to evaluate his English. Then, we can decide the plan for him to focus on his IELTS test. In this regard, I will prepare the documents required for his process of his degree course in Business/Legal Studies in September 2013 as stated in Susans email. Please kindly give me your recommendation on the proposed plan, and also your advice on this so that I can build a detailed plan for An.

In addition, I would like to apologise that you are not properly informed about the changes. I had forwarded all the emails to you, but now I think it would be better if I can meet you and discuss in detail about these so that we can know exactly what is going on. I have to learn more about time management and also do need to practice my speaking English, not only to be more confident to communicate but to handle my work more effectively. I do hope that you can share me some sympathy and help me with my English and also, many many things in my work. Once again, thank you very much and I am looking forward to hearing from you. Yours, Linh Dear Prof. Yun, Greetings from the International School (IS)! My name is Tracy and I am in charge of the study tour of students from Daegu University (DU). To well prepare for the study tour, I would like to note you some information as follows: (1) The students should prepare the phones which are eligible for Vietnamese sim for the 3-week study tour so that they can easily keep in touch with us during the time here in Vietnam. (2) The students should prepare suitable items including clothes, shoes, etc for field trips and voluntary activities, which should be casual and comfortable items. Please kindly inform your students about the above issues. Thank you very much for your nice cooperation and we are looking forward to hearing from you soon. Please feel free to contact my team if you have any further enquiries. Best regards, Tracy Dear Prof. Yun, Thank you very much for your reply. About the sim cards, yes, we have already planned a short tour around Thai Nguyen City to introduce the city to the students, in which we will help them to buy sim cards, exchange their money to VND and show them location of other necessary services during the time in Thai Nguyen (Bank, Supermarket, etc). Once again, thank you for your nice collaboration. Please kindly keep us updated about the information from DU side. Sincerely yours,

Tracy Dear Guys, Please find the attached file of Schedule for Business and Management and follow it. I would like to note all of you that the subject is accounted for 3 credits of your program, so you need to follow it, attend the lectures, take part in the discussion part and presentation, hand in assignment and homework, it is very important because the scores

of each part will be taken to the over-all evaluation of the subject Introduction to Business and Management. As for your Vietnamese language class on Thursday, I will tell Ms. Sarah to let you be absent from it to attend the lectures on Introduction to Business and Management. If you have nay enquiries about this, please feel free to contact me. @Mary: Please kindly help me to inform the others about the schedule, and by the way, could you help me to collect email addresses of the others and send them to me (please see attachment of the form for it), thank you very much! Tracy Dear Prof. Yun, I am writing this letter to clarify the change of schedule for your delegations. In your last email, you told us that there would be 3 accompanying staffs from DU, who would come with the first 15 students on December 26, 2012; they are: 1. Lee, Chaewook / Dean of Office of International Affairs / Male 2. Kim, Hyungjin / General Team Manager of Office of Planning Team / Male 3. Nguyen Ngoc Hung / Representative(in Vietnam) of Daegu University / Male However, your email dated December 26, 2012 told us about the change in schedule for only 2 delegations, which is somehow confusing. Please kindly check and confirm about (1) the total number of the delegations and (2) the schedule for each delegation in Thai Nguyen city, so that we can make necessary arrangements to well host their visit to the International School. Thank you very much and we look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Please feel free to ask me if you have any enquiries. Best regards, Tracy Dear Prof. Yun, Thank you very much for your reply which helps us make necessary arrangements for the visit of your delegations to our school. Please kindly find herewith the following attachments: (1) Tentative agenda for the visit (2) The program for the Welcome meeting on December 27, 2012 I would like to note you that, the two delegations from Daegu University (DU) shall be arranged two single rooms at Hoang Mam Hotel, which is the same hotel for the 15 students and only 10 minutes to the International School (IS) instead of Dong A 2 hotel as suggested before. It is believed that the arrangement is suitable for the fight schedule and the tentative agenda of your delegations. Please kindly review the documents and keep us informed about any revision on these. Once again, thank you very much and we look forward to hearing from you soon. Tracy Dear Prof. Yun,

Merry Christmas! Wish you and your colleagues at Daegu University warmth and happiness on the holidays and also the coming year 2013! Thank you very much for your information about the delegations, yes, we have a Korean staff here who are have fluent Korean and Vietnamese and can be the interpreter at the welcome meeting as Jenny told you on the phone. We have already arranged transportation for the departure to Hanoi of your delegations. Please feel free to ask me if you have any enquiries from the International School. All the best, Tracy Dear Prof. Yun, The Korean staff is one of the senior foreign staff here in the International School. His name is Lee Kyoung Gyou (Vietnamese name is Thai), he is currently working as a Korean language teacher and the coordinator for some Korea-Vietnam jointly programs for Thai Nguyen University. Mr. Lee have been working in Vietnam for over 6 years and fluent at Vietnamese language. It is believed that the meeting with the support of Mr. Lee as an interpreter will help us with more understanding and further possible cooperation between the two institutions. I hope the above information will be useful for you and it would be appreciated that you could send us the speech prepared by your delegations in advance so that Mr. Lee shall review and therefore make necessary preparations. Thank you very for your possible assistance on this and we look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours, Tracy Dear Prof. Jun, I am writing this letter to gladly inform you that the students have safely got the destination here in Thai Nguyen city and start their study from today. We had a cozy welcome party yesterday, the students are interested in Vietnamese food and are getting to be familiar with this. In order to make it clearer for Daegu University staff and the students to know about the program, I would like to confirm with you for some issues as follows: (1) The assessment system: For each seminar or lecture, the students are expected to discuss and make reports on what they have learnt, which show their performance for the teachers to evaluate. (2) The certificate of the program evaluation: Based on their performance during the program, the students shall be granted the certificates of Excellent, Very Good or Good. (3) Living costs in Vietnam: The students have to cover their meals during their time in Vietnam, which costs around USD 200 as Jenny told you in your emails during discussion process before the start of this program. In addition to this, the students should prepare for their other costs during their time in Vietnam (shopping, entertainment, etc). As I have discussed with you on the phone, I will recommend some restaurants outside the hotel with reasonable price for them as long as they sign a commitment to take their full responsibility for the food outside the hotel.

(4) The way of contact during their time in Vietnam: Because the students will take part in many activities in Vietnam including lectures, field trip, volunteering activities, tours, they do need to buy Vietnamese SIM cards so that we can easily contact with each other, on the other hand, using Vietnamese SIM cards is much cheaper, which is suitable and convenient for their stay and study here in Vietnam for 3 weeks. As for your concern about the credit transfer, I would like to confirm that the International School (ISTNU) and Daegu University (DU) have already signed the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) in which stated the possibility of credit transfer policy for the exchange student program between the two institutions, however specific programs need to be discussed in detail for the mutual agreement of ISTNU and DU. For your clearer understanding about the procedure, I would like to take an example like this: For your student exchange of Vietnam Specialist Program which is signed on the basis of the contents stated in the MOU, we had to sign a separate contract on this specific program for the implement of it.

Similarly, your intention of studying and doing internship in our school is one of the specific activities within the framework of the MOU, thus we need to contact DU and offer a proposal for cooperation on implementing this activity. I have discussed with Dr. Anh (Our Dean) about this and after reviewing your application documents, he showed his extremely great willing and pleasure to accept you and also to contact DU for the cooperation on this activity. The proposed procedure for it as usual is like this: (1) ISTNU to send your university a letter signed by our Dean as an official offer for your proposed activity (2) DU to accept the proposed activity and send back official documents of the acceptance (3) The ISTNU to issue the official document for the applicant to apply for the visa to Vietnam (4) The applicant to come to ISTNU and start the study and internship Because this is one of the directly relevant activities within the contents of the MOU signed by our two institutions, it is strongly believed that your proposed activity will be very soon processed on the basis of credit transfer, which not only creates the opportunity for you to improve your English and other skills and experience but also set the precedent for other similar activities in the future and as the result, enhance the cooperation between ISTNU and DU for our mutual benefits. If you still have your motivation to come to our school, please let us know so that we can process the activity ASAP. I am writing this with my strong expectation of receiving you to our school, not only for our commitment of creating the opportunities of diverse study and internship for the international students as stated in our past emails, but also for my enthusiasm to support you as a true friend. Really, I appreciate your strong motivation of challenging yourself, to experience new things, to on your own find any possible chances to become better. As for the insurance of visa you mentioned in your email, as I do not clearly understand about it because of the difference between Korea and Vietnam, could you please give me more information of this kind of insurance? If it is a kind of health insurance as far as I know, it is our pleasure to cover it for you during your time in Vietnam. Thank you very much for your information and I am looking forward to hearing from you ASAP. All the best, Your friend, Tracy Dear Prof. Ilano, Thank you for your package of documents for three Filipino applicants for our scholarships. This letter is intended to inform you that the International School (ISTNU) will accept the three Filipino students recommended by Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) as ISTNU students for our full scholarships (The list of the student is attached in this email). Because our second semester for this school year will commence from the end of February, it would be great that SLSU can help us to arrange their travel to the ISTNU and start their study right in this month or early March. All the necessary documents for the acceptance issued by our side will be sent via a separate email to you after mutual agreement on the time is made between the ISTNU and SLSU. Please kindly keep us informed about your decision on the proposed time so that we can make necessary arrangement to receive the students.

Once again, thank you very much and we are looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. Regards, Tracy Dear Prof. Ilano, The start date of the second semester in the ISTNU is from February 25. After the student come to Thai Nguyen, we do need to (1) carry out the enrolment formalities for them (2) have a test on their English, the two steps shall take us only one or two days after they come to our school, then we can determine by official clues the studying plan for the three new students. Based on the Personal Statement of the students it can be said that their English is quite good, if they pass the test, they can study with the 9 other Filipino students in their degree plan, if they cannot pass the exam, they will take an intensive English course to improve and after that they can start their degree program. In this regard, please kindly find enclosed in this email the Schedule for the ISTNU second semester of School year 2012/2013 so that SLSU can support us to find the best solution for the students to start their study in the ISTNU. In addition, an intensive course on Vietnamese Language and Culture will be arranged by our school to support students to get acquainted with the life in Vietnam together with their degree program. Thank you for your kind effort on the work and please contact me if you have any further enquiries. We are looking forward to hearing from you ASAP. Best regards, Tracy Dear all, I am writing this letter to remind you a about your study and also your stay in dormitory. 1. Your study In this semester you have to complete IELTS Foundation and some degree courses as stated in the schedule sent to you. You are students, you have to obey the academic regulations on study (attendance, doing homework, take exams, etc), all the students have to care about study, it is for sure. But these days, I heard from the manager of the class and also the teachers that you didnt come to class and at tend the courses. I am really really worried and sad about it. I have discuss with Dr. Tai, Head of Academic Affairs Dept. about your attitude towards study, and he said that he has to issue the Official Announcement to warn you of punishment if you do not pay your attention to study, which pursues the academic regulations. It has become a serious problem! I know you are good at study, English and other skills, maybe better than Vietnamese students, but the thing that also matters is your attitude and awareness towards study, teachers and friends. And in addition, your attendance is accounted for your final grade (about 20%). I think that you are not children any more, and I really do not want to tell you these small things, I myself think that you have grew enough to understand the things. I strongly suggest that you seriously think about it, and on your own adjust yourselves to study effectively. 2. Your stay in dormitory I have a discussion with Mr. Tuyen about your life in Dorm and there will be a meeting to discuss with you about the situation. I know that you have difficulties living with Vietnamese students because of cultural differences, but it is study abroad, you have to adapt. Vietnamese students also have to adapt themselves living with you, and we

should share and understand each other, you, your friends and I, all of us have to share, and help each other. In addition, Dorm has its regulations, about time, living, study, etc, and each who stays there has to respect the regulations. It will create a friendly and positive environment for study, friendship, and sharing. It would be much better if you keep your room clean, fresh and friendly. We shouldnt only think of our own style, individual benefits, we should think about others, show mutual respect and share, because we live in the same community. Everyone usually talks about regulations, obligations, and punishments, etc, yes, these things help us live better in a community. However, lets see these in a different aspect, regulati ons is always regulations, the thing really matters is that you have full awareness about your own life, study, your goals, and your ways to reach your goals. I know that coming to Vietnam, each of you have your own aims and goals, and you are the brave youngsters who dare to take challenges, to live in new country, new environment, to experience new things. I just only want to see you, my sisters and brothers, my friends, grow step by step, I want to see you succeed, I really really want. You know when I take the job of caring about you, I know that is not easy, but on the way doing my job, I find many meaningful things that not everyone can experience. Thus, I put my full attempt to help you, to share, and I have a strong belief that I can get some achievement through your success. Really hope that you understand and share! All the best to you cc em! Ch Tracy Dear Mr. Taguliano Good morning! However, the hotel fee can be paid directly for the hotel on your own, we are pleased to help you book the hotel rooms and the fee can be paid when you come to Vietnam. Please be informed that the hotel only receives cash (in either Vietnam Dong or USD). Dear Prof. Ilano, This letter is intended to inform you about the withdrawal of one of Filipino students from the International School which is stated below: Name in full: Mary Grace M. De Chavez Date of birth: 21/01/1995 Sex: Male Course: BA in International Business Date of enrollment: October 8, 2012 The student wants to withdraw from ISTNU and come back to the Philippines to continue her study for some reason from her family (her parents got divorced and her father wants her to come back). Her flight has been already booked by her father on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. To support the student, ISTNU will help her with withdrawal formalities and arrange her transportation from Thai Nguyen to the airport accompanied by ISTNU staff. We also advise the student to contact SLSU about her return and her plan of continuing her study for possible support from your side. It would be highly appreciated that we can cooperate to support our student as far as we can. In addition, we will have an official report about Filipino students including their study, their life in Vietnam and others after their one semester of studying in Vietnam. The report will be presented at the meeting with Dr. Gascon when she comes to our school next week. It is believed that after the discussion, we will have the whole picture of the situation and find more effective solutions to deliver better conditions to our students. Thank you very much for your cooperation and I wish you and your colleagues a fruitful new week of working! Warm regards, Tracy Dear Tracy: Thank you for your email and hard working on students exchange. I have one question, would you please let me know some more information about your "Studay abroad at Honghe University Program"? 1. We just have bachelor degree in Honghe University. If you send your students to attend SAP in our university, is it a short term (maybe one semester, maybe one year) program or a 4-year degree program? 2. How many students will attend this program? If we can know the number in advance, it would be appreciated. 3. According to the fee, it's different between degree program and short term program. So I have to know what kind of program is your Study Abroad Program. Dear Vivian, Thank you for your enquiries about our Study Abroad at Honghe University Program (SAP). We would like to provide information about the program as follows: 1. The SAP mentioned here is that we will send out students to HU to study for 4-year degree program. As you may know in Vietnam, the demand for studying abroad in general and in China in particular is quite large, we set up SAP based on the cooperation

between our two institutions to support students in applying to HU, which is believed to enhance our cooperation on basis of mutual benefit. 2. The number of students who wish to study in HU in this year is around 70, but we have to select the eligible applicants who prospectively meet your entry requirements and can afford the fees studying in HU. That is the reason why we need your assistance in providing us with information about the situation in HU (requirement, application procedure, fees, etc) so that we can make an official announcement and recruit applicants. 3. About the short term programs, we also have interest in these kinds of programs. It would be great that we can cooperate in offering the programs in Vietnam so that our students and other people of concern can have chance to learn and experience new things studying in HU. In this regard, it would be appreciated that you could provide us the information about your existing short term programs, then we need to discuss and see if we can participate in the program. However, it is believed that the demand for short term programs is quite large in Vietnam. ISTNU have cooperation with many universities and high schools whose students are majoring in Chinese language, so if we have all the information, we can promote the programs and recruit applicants who are interested in. Once again, thank you for your nice cooperation and we look forward to hearing from you soon. Warm regards, Tracy Dear Mr. Dan Ewert, Greeting from International School of Thai Nguyen University, Vietnam!
