FROM THE PASTORS DESK

SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY With last weeks celebration of Pentecost, we have returned liturgically to ordinary time in our church calendar. Todays feast as well as next weeks feast are both Solemn Feasts. These are opportunities for us to celebrate, acknowledge, and accent some very important dimensions of this faith of ours. As we celebrate the life of the Trinity - God is three (tri) in one (une). The Christian God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - is relational. How amazing and wonderfully mysterious at the same time! We have been hearing in the readings for the past few weeks leading up to Pentecost, of the Holy Spirit, which would be sent by Jesus to be our advocate. This Holy Spirit would guide us into all Truth - therefore referred to as the Spirit of truth. This Spirit of truth who will come to teach us even more about God, leading us into a deeper relationship with the Father through Jesus. We, who are created by the Father, led by the Son and one in the Spirit are invited to mirror the relationship of the Trinity in our relations with each other. The Sacrament of Baptism makes this mysterious relationship possible, we are reconnected to the Father from whom we were separated in original sin. Baptism, is the gift of faith, that reconnects us to the Father and helps us to have access to the life giving relationship that ultimately brings us back to Heaven. In the meantime, during our life lived in faith we strive to mirror that great and mysterious relationships of the divine persons of the Trinity.

to extend my thanks to all of the Catechists who worked so hard this year. We are blessed to have these men and women among us who see the importance of passing on their faith. May you all have a well deserved rest over the summer and we will see some of you again in the fall. To those who may not be returning a huge thank you for the years you have devoted to our youth. May you find another way to keep on ministering your faith to others. Over the past several weeks we have been sharing with you the exciting news of the Ignite 2013 Conference. We will gather as one Church Community on Friday May 31st & Saturday June 1st. This conference offers us all a great opportunity to celebrate our faith, and to witness the Good News of our faith to those around us. We are more than a Sunday worshipping community, our faith is alive, active and true 24/7 so please take a minute to register for this event and come together to rejoice in the love of our Lord, share our faith and grow in the love of God that has been planted in us at Baptism and has grown in us throughout our entire lives. Deadline for registration is Monday May 27th so dont delay.

THE SEVEN PILLARS OF CATHOLIC SPIRITUALITY This week we reflect on the seventh pillar of Catholic Spirituality - Spiritual Reading. There are many ways that we can be engaged in formation. The formation of our

minds in what is true and what we believe is an essential piece for the Christian. What we read has a very important impact on the way in which we demonstrate what we believe. There is a direct connection. In the formation of ourselves as Christian we need to exercise our mind through the regular and constant reality of reading. We need to constantly and consistently make good and healthy choices in what we read or what we would encourage our children to read. In Religious Education as children and young people we encourage some good spiritual books, thoughts on lives of the saints, a reading of the Catechism so as to delve some of the teachings of the Church (learning the what and why we believe), some other good spiritual reading. As adults this process should not stop but rather deepen. Too often we let these important and essential areas go that will help form us and deepen our relationship with the Lord and his Church. Going back to a word that Matthew Kelly used before, we can easily become disengaged if we are not making efforts to strive to draw closer to God. If you really want

your life to change, read some good spiritual books. If you approach these books with a spirit of faith, a desire to grow in holiness, and a sincere intention to practice what you read, spiritual reading will become a powerful tool in your life.

MONTH OF MARY As we enter the final week of Maythe Month of

Marylet us take time this week to pray the rosary and seek the intercession of our Blessed Mother for those we love, those in need of prayer and especially those we struggle most to love as we ought we are called to love our enemies and we see the example of Mary at the foot of the cross loving her son and never interfering with the will of God! Mary did not show hatred to those who crucified her son. She gave her YES to the Fathers will that she be the Mother of Jesus. From the birth of Jesus, to his final breath on the cross, to his Ascension to the Father in Heaven; Mary was ever obedient to the Father. Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. MASS INTENTIONS: Please contact the office if you would like to have a mass

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU To our Confirmandi; Catherine Sarah Vosman, Jayda Rain Grady, Sarah Marie Knox, Julia Elizabeth DeViller, Thomas Gerald Durant - thank you for your gift of faith and your continual call to witness to that Faith in our Church and world. CORPUS CHRISTIThe Solemnity of the Body of Christhistorically celebrated on the eighth Thursday after
Easter (in Canada it is moved to the Sunday following that Thursday). The Church instituted this joyous Feast to celebrate the Holy Eucharist as the True Presence of Christ: body, blood, soul and divinity! Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish will celebrate this Feast with the reception of First Holy Communion to the young people who have been preparing for this sacrament in Sunday School. Immediately following mass we will have a Eucharistic Procession around the block: Robie St, to Lady Hammond Dr, to High St and ending at the park across the street from the church (weather permitting) where Father Gerald will give Benediction (Blessing). We invite everyone who is able, to follow our Lord in the procession and gather in the park. This small procession gives great witness in our neighborhood about the great gift of faith we share. Please join us in the hall after the Benediction for a reception.

Baptism: Please contact Fr. Gerald or the parish office to arrange preparation. Marriage: Please contact Fr. Gerald at least 6-months in advance. Sacrament of the Sick: If you or a loved one is entering hospital or would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick, please contact Fr. Gerald or the parish office. Funerals: In the event of the death of a loved one, please contact the parish office as soon as is convenient. Fr. Gerald and the Parish staff will assist with the necessary arrangements.
