MANIFESTO

EDUCATION

1. Upgrade infrastructure and quality of education in Government schools by primarily

enhancing training programs for teachers, providing adequate computer facilities and
setting up libraries in order to bring them on par with private schools and to provide
affordable education to all.
2. People below poverty line will be provided with Rs.100 every month and three school
uniforms each year.
3. Free computer education facility will be provided to the people of South Chennai
Constituency. Will strive to provide skills/ qualification-based employment
opportunities enabling youngsters and housewives to earn between Rs.2000-
Rs.10000.

4. Create a system for higher education/ career guidance for students.

5. Strive to spread English and Computer education in slums.

GOVERNANCE

1. To make myself accessible through phone/ e-mail for issues that require my attention
and prioritize them based on urgency. To provide platforms/ forums for citizens to put
forward their suggestions and feedback on governance issues.

2. Will voice the views and opinions of the people from my Constituency by attending all
the Lok Sabha sessions. Further, intend to play a constructive role in debates on
critical issues and formulation of policies and laws in parliament on behalf of the
people of my Constituency.

3. The funds allotted under the MPLAD scheme will be fully and optimally used for the
development of the Constituency. The income and expense statements of the
Constituency will be made available to the people on the internet to establish
transparency in governance.

4. To establish “Citizen Response centers” to provide the masses with an effective

channel to avail information and to bring issues/ concerns relating to Governance to
the forefront.

5. Spread awareness on Right to Information Act to curb corruption.

HEALTHCARE

To improve the Govt. healthcare infrastructure and delivery systems to ensure that good
medical facilities are within the reach of the common man.

EMPLOYMENT GENERATION

1. Facilitate access to micro-finance institutions for the establishment and enhancement
of small-scale businesses.

2. Encourage grassroots entrepreneurship by providing relevant training that creates

job opportunities. Creating a portal for skills mapping and opportunity assessment.

3. Create opportunities for women to generate income through self-help groups

(SHGs).

4. Aim to create 100 young entrepreneurs in South Chennai by 2014.

INFRASRUCTURE

1. Initiate Slum Rehabilitation Programs and propose plans/ policies for the
improvement of their quality of life.

2. Effective scheduling of sewage disposal and flood control measures in flood zones
such as Velachery.

3. Explore avenues to convert open/ waste-lands into parking facilities.

4. Initiate discussions/ debates on a priority basis pertaining to urban planning and help
in formulating policies for improving urban infrastructure.

5. Explore feasibility for dedicated Mini-bus facilities at all MRTS stations operating
within an area of 2 square kms.

CLEAN AND GREEN CHENNAI

1. Start Social awareness campaigns to spread the importance of hygiene.

2. Construct public toilets/ bathing spaces based on the needs of the local populace.

3. Strive to make South Chennai a model “Green” constituency by initiating drives to

plant trees and converting open/ waste-lands into green spaces.
