Illumination of

multi-sport complexes
SSG systems for the illumination of sports facilities, e.g. our mini soccer fields have the potential to be played upon until late into the evening. The usability of the facilities is thus multiplied significantly. More time becomes available for sports to be played, attracting more players, increasing levels of satisfaction and costeffectiveness. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of energy-saving systems, which, as a rule, require less power and minimize unwanted light emissions. Selecting the ideal locations for the masts and determining their optimal height and number are key aspects in the process. Our fundamental philosophy sees us pay close attention to the design of all floodlight systems, whether for stadia or mini soccer fields, ensuring that they harmonize with the overall architectural concept; we also focus on high stability and advanced performance and perfect lighting technology through the implementation of brand products yet still at a reasonable level of investment. Of course, the same principles apply here as for the SSG floodlighting systems for wide-area lighting (stadia, airports, trade fairs etc.), namely that the facilities are continously secure and easily managed and maintained. Manufacture takes place, based on individual wishes and specifications, in our own certified welding plant in Germany. Floodlighting systems are either pre-assembled or, if preferred, assembled on site. A power supply is a basic requirement (e.g. 4 x 6 mm underground cable), laid alongside the pitch and connected to the mast sub-distribution points. Also required is a residual-current device (RCD), with a timer if necessary, located in the club house for example. You can assemble the system professionally in just a few simple steps, and complete the installation with the assistance of a local, certified electrician. Singapore study

SSG masts
Mast concept
There are various possibilities for the positioning and securing of floodlight systems at smaller sporting locations. We generally focus on deploying as few floodlight positions as possible, hence reducing the number of foundations and masts required, but still ensuring maximum lighting yield. SSG masts are galvanized according to DIN EN ISO 1461, can be (RAL) painted if required and fitted with galvanized or stainless steel screw joints. To make assembly and maintenance easier, the masts can also be designed to be elevatable and lowerable, usually by means of a winch or 220/380 V powered hydraulic tilting device. The masts are arranged on the perimeter, on two or four diagonally opposite corners. We will be happy to advise you with regard to finding the perfect solution for your conditions.

Mirror reflector systems

Systems with indirect lighting
Function Mirror reflector technology is a precisely designed system comprising reflector panels and spotlights, following the principle of light beam image splitting. The spots concentrate the light and direct it with calculated precision onto a mirror field of high-quality reflector panels, which in turn yield perfectly aligned, uniform lighting distribution onto the playing surface. Thanks to the diffraction of light, glare is significantly reduced in contrast to direct lighting. Furthermore, the exact calibration of narrow beam spotlights and the reflector panel field means that undesired light emissions can be minimized. Mast arrangement Either two or four designer floodlight masts with two or three uprights are positioned in the corners of the field with a mounting height of 6 or 9 m. Spotlights & mirrors HQI-TS 400/1000 W lamps with approx. 70 - 100 lx vertical illuminance at a height of approx. 4.5 - 7 m, directed at the special reflector panels with mirror facets. High-quality lamps and mirror facet elements guarantee durable and cost-efficient lighting technology. Protective grilles can be affixed to the mirror reflectors to guard against wayward shots. Lighting level The lighting level can be lowered to 40-50 lx to save energy costs by switching off one of the beams on each mast. Thanks to the redirection of the mirror facets, the even quality of light is barely affected. Alternatively, it is possible to switch off one of the masts completely, if training only takes place on one half of the pitch.

Lighting calculations
Pitch size 20 x 13 m Illumination with mirror reflector technology, 2 masts with two 250/400 W spotlights each or one 1000 W spotlight

Advantages Lowering of the lighting level without noticeable deterioration of lighting or evenness of lighting Virtually glare-free when the ball is played in the air, due to the diffraction of light achieved by the mirror field Approx. 25 % lower mast height than in direct lighting systems (plane projectors) yet with maximum quality of light

LED systems
Energy-saving systems
Function This technology guides the light via precisely calculated mirror and lens optics into the desired symmetrical or asymmetrical channels directly onto the surface area, ensuring even, excellent illumination of the playing area. Unwanted light emissions are thus reduced to a minimum. Light emanates from the latest in high performance LEDs, guaranteeing optimal light yield with extremely low energy output. Mast positioning Either two or four designer floodlight masts with two or three uprights are positioned in the corners with a mounting height of 6.5 or 8m, depending on the size of the pitch. Spotlights The LED field is situated at a height of approx. 6.5-8 m, consisting of special modules with approx. 80 - 100 lx vertical illuminance and additional safety lighting for the surrounding spectator areas. Lighting level LED lighting technology enables a reduction in lighting levels by gradually lowering the performance with variable control, without any noticeable effect on the even quality of light. Advantages Significant reduction in energy costs through the use of LED technology (low energy consumption) Longer durability than regular lamp technology Gradual reduction in lighting level thanks to variable control of LEDs without noticeable deterioration in the even quality of light Virtually glare-free when ball is played in the air, due to diffuse LED lighting Approx. 25 % lower masts in comparison to direct lighting systems (plane projectors) with maximum lighting quality

Disadvantages High illuminance (e.g. 250 lx) can only be achieved at great cost; this may improve as LED technology becomes more advanced Relatively high investment costs at present in comparison to regular lighting/lamp technology

Plane projectors
Systems with direct lighting
Function This technology guides the light via precisely calculated mirror and lens optics into the desired symmetrical or asymmetrical channels directly onto the surface area. It is designed to keep glare and unwanted light emission to a minimum. Licht sources are the latest HQI-TS/HCI/CRI or NAV lamps, guaranteeing excellent light yield with low energy output. Mast positioning Either two or four designer floodlight masts with 2 or 3 uprights are positioned in the corners, with a mounting height of 7.5 m, 9.5 m or 10 m. Spotlights Two 250 or 400 W spotlights per mast with approx. 80 - 100 lx vertical illuminance at a height of approx. 7.5 - 10 m. Lighting level In this system either one of both spotlights of each mast can be switched off to lower the lighting level or to illuminate one half of the playing area. This does, however, affect the even quality of the lighting. Advantages Relatively low investment costs in comparison to LED and mirror reflector systems Disadvantages Due to the type of spotlight, the even quality of lighting is adversely affected when the lighting level is reduced by switching off any of the lamps Possible glare or dazzling when the ball passes across the concentrated light emission of the floodlights Considerably taller masts due to angle of light source required to counter dazzle and glare in contrast to mirror reflector and LED systems Higher energy costs than LED technology
