Gods Many Names / Titles

(a gradual revealing of Himself to mankind)

GOD - The Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of the universe (Isaiah 40:27-31); the triune
Godhead: God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit (I John 5:6-7, Matthew 28:19, II Corinthians 13:14) who reveals Himself through the natural world, the Holy Bible (John 1:14), and His Son Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:19). God is infinite in being and character: omnipresent (Jeremiah 23:23-24), all-powerful (Revelation 19:6), perfect in holiness (Leviticus 11:44), and infinite in mercy (Psalm 136), wisdom (Colossians 2:2-3), and truth (Titus 1:2). Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (John 14:26) Comforter / Counselor / Advocate - a title for the Holy Spirit / to Strengthen (John 14:16-26) Creator - create / select / choose / dispatch / do / make (Ecclesiastes 12:1, Isaiah 40:28) Lamb of God - a title of Christ which emphasizes the sacrificial nature of His life and His atoning death. The word is used figuratively to represent Truth and goodness. (James 1:17) Redeemer - Avenger / deliver / purchase / ransom / Revenger this describes the work of Christ who bought us back from sin and death through His atonement on the cross. (Isaiah 47:4) Physician - to cure / heal / make whole (Luke 4:23, 5:31) Passover - For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: (1 Corinthians 5:7) King - Sovereign / a Foundation of Power / God is our Eternal King, worthy of all Honour (1 Timothy 1:17) Christ, our ultimate ruler, is KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Lord - Self Existent / Eternal / Jehovah / Supremacy / Master / God (Isaiah 42:8) Lord of Sabaoth / Hosts - Lord Almighty / a title of God which emphasizes His Sovereignty. (Isaiah 1:9, 10:23) Lord our Righteousness - In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Jeremiah 23:6) Sun of Righteousness - Justice / Virtue / Rectitude / Rightness But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; (Malachi 4:2) Son of God - Emmanuel / Immanuel / Jesus Christ / Messiah (Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35) Son of Man - Jesus Christ Himself which emphasizes His humanity and Messiahship. (John 15:1) Prophet - Inspired Man or speaker / Foreteller / A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. (Acts 3:22, Deuteronomy 18:15) Prince (Ruler) - a title for Jesus who is called the Prince of life and the Prince of the kings of the earth. (Acts 3:15, Revelation 1:5) Messiah / Messias - the Great Deliverer of Israel / the Christ / the Anointed One (John 1:41) Shiloh - Tranquil / Secure / Successful (Genesis 49:10) Melchizedek / Melchisedec - foreshadowing of Christ / King of Righteousness / King of Peace / King of Salem (Hebrews 7) The Good Shepherd - I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the

sheep. (John 10:11) Hallowed - Holy / Pure / Sacred / Hallowed be thy name (Matthew 6:9, Luke 11:2) Holy - Sacred / God ...holy and reverend is his name. (Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 7:14) Majesty - Greatness / Divinity / a term referring to the Dignity, Power & Authourity of a King (Hebrews 1:3, 8:1) Mighty - Powerful / Warrior / Tyrant / Strong / Valiant (Isaiah 9:6) Almighty - Powerful / Ravage / Destroyer / Robber / Spoiler (Exodus 6:3) Most High God - Elevation / Supreme / A name for God signifying His majesty (Acts 7:48-49) Everlasting God - Eternal / Perpetual / Beginning of / without End (Genesis 21:33, Isaiah 9:6) Ancient Of Days - A title for God used by the prophet Daniel to show His ruling authourity over world empires (Daniel 7:9-22) Rock - Used metaphorically for God to show His Strength and Stability. (Deuteronomy 32:4, I Corinthians 10:4) Cornerstone - A title for Jesus Christ as the Keystone of the Church. (Psalm 118:22, Ephesians 2:20) Deliverer - slip out / escape / calve / carry away safe (2 Samuel 22, Psalm 18:2, Romans 11:26) Foundation - The apostle Paul described Jesus Christ as the Sure Foundation for believers. (Psalm 89:18) For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: (Isaiah 43:3) Last Adam - Adam, the first man created in Gods own image (Genesis 1:26-27). As head of the human race, Adam introduced sin into the world. He represents the lost and dying condition of all unrepentant sinners (Romans 5:12-19, 1 Corinthians 15:22). But Christ, referred to in the N.T. as the Last Adam, offers deliverance from the curse of sin and death (Romans 5:14-19, 1 Corinthians 15:22,45).

Faithful and True - Trustworthy / Trustful / Believe / Sure / True / Truth (Revelation 19:11) A New Name? - and I will write upon him my new name. (Revelation 3:12) and he had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. (Revelation 19:12)
