Through out the course of the FMP I have tried to develop a range of skills from editorial to moving image.

The Predominant focus of my design practice is Branding, all the skill I have developed through out the module have the general focus of improving my practice with in this sector of design. I think my editorial work has improved dramatically through out the course of the FMP with briefs such as the Fine Art yearbook. The meticulous nature of editorial design is something that was relatively new to me at the start of this module, having an understanding space and layout has helped all other aspects of my design practice. Other skills that I have developed through out the module are working collaboratively. Working with in a design team is a rewarding way of working and my ability to delegate and work alongside other designers defiantly improved over the course of the module. I think this is perhaps the most useful skill learnt during the course of the FMP. This is due to the nature of the industry, as it is likely I will have to work in part of a design team. From a design perspective the FMP developed skills already learnt in previous years on the course I am leaving the course with the ability to find solutions to most design based problems that will constantly applied in work environment. My approach to the design production has always been particularly concept focused; it is this I have continued to develop through out the course of the FMP. The importance of research is paramount to my design practice, informing my briefs with real world restrictions. The idea of restrictions is what I endeavored to portray in my Design Context brief, being constantly aware of design or economic restrictions holds a high importance in effectively communicating the desired message with in a brief. My design practice is more informed due to the research stage of the process, it is this research that I try and develop across a range of deliverables to create a realistic final outcome. Analyzing my design process, it is the conceptual development that is the strongest aspect; the ability to apply a concept across a broad range of deliverables is what makes the Identity of the brand appear real even if the brief is not. Where as aesthetics hold an importance, I believe the most effective design is design that portrays or sells an idea most effectively, it is this I consider a strength of mine. Simplicity is often the best way to sell a concept, it is the idea generation of a concept where I see a future career path, which is what I will capitalize on after the course is completed. Where as the conceptual development of my work I consider the strongest, the weakest aspect of this module was the time management process, I often found myself taking to long over

certain aspects the physical design process which didnt allow me to communicate the development as much as I would of liked. In the future I need to be aware of what requires extensive time and what doesnt. This ability will help me to communicate the message or purpose behind the design more effectively. Looking at the FMP more specifically I feel the blog process could have been improved, it Is the poor time management and spending to long on certain briefs that resulted in me only having four main briefs. I began the FMP with a very sector specific Statement of intent focusing on the Tourism sector, however with the introduction of certain briefs and freelance work it became obvious that I had to branch out from the tourism focused branding, that I was going to focus on. I think this became a positive move as it allowed me to tackle a diverse range of briefs and broaden the design skill set I developed through out the FMP. If I had not of changed the focus of my design practice I would only of been appealing to a specific secular audience, which requires a similar tone of design through out. It is the ability of a designer to communicate to an array of different audiences, by applying specific rules or restrictions that makes them successful, something that have tried to do through out the FMP and something I will continue to do as I move into the Industry.
