I. 21 Iranians Killed in 3-day Snowstorm
Tehran, Iran

On Saturday, Iran faced its heaviest powerful snowfall in over a decade. As


much as 22 inches of snow has piled up in Tehran since Saturday. So far, at
least 21 people are killed and 88 people injured.

II. Violent Crime on the Decline, FBI Shows
United States, Washington

Crime dipped slightly for the first half of 2007, the FBI shows. Violent crime
had dropped 1.8 percent between January and June of last year. Yet, they
seemed to notice crimes have had an increase in smaller, rural cities, in
murder and violence.

III. Thousands Remain Without Power Following Storms
Bay Area, California

Tens of thousands of people in the Bay Area are left without power on
Monday, following the sever storm hitting the area last weekend. More than
16,000 people were still without power, a 98% restoration rate from the
original 987,000 estimated people who lost power. PG&E customers in the
North and South Bay were most heavily impacted form the storm.

IV. Dr. Phil Cancels his Brittany Spears Show
Los Angeles, California

Dr. Phil had decided to pull the plug on his one-hour show with Brittany
Spear to examine her “pubic meltdown.” Dr. Phil explained that the 26 year
old stars situations was “too intense” to go on with the show. Spears was
hospitalized Thursday night after a child custody dispute with ex-husband
Kevin Federline resulted in an hours-long standoff with police

V. Boxer Declared Brain Dead
Seoul, South Korea

A South Korea boxer who fell into a coma after winning his WBO
intercontinental flyweight title was declared dead last Thursday. The 33-
year-old South Korean was knocked down just before the end of the 12th
and final round of the fight but got back up and was declared the winner on
points before collapsing. “He has lived a hard life,” his 65 year old mother
said, “I hope he has gone to a peaceful place.”
