Residential Counselor Summer 2007 – Summer 2008
Hospital Diversion Program/NFI, Burlington VT
Provided supportive counseling to adolescents in mental health crisis in a short-term residential program with
a team of 3 counselors. The treatment included encouragement of a healthy eating/sleeping habit and well-
managed hygiene; art projects, games, and music therapy with themes around trauma, self-esteem, self-harm,
relationships, peer-pressure, and etc.; as well as group and one-on-one therapeutic conversation.

Girl Scouts of Swift Water Council
Managed program fees and expenses for events and trips taken place in camp. Tasks also included directing
phone calls for participants’ parents and staff members, and creating in-camp news papers and pamphlet for
up-coming programs.

Work primarily with groups of 5 to 10 adolescents with emotional and behavioral difficulties. Plan and

Ashadeep Community Center, Mumbai India
Worked with women and children living in the community of low-income housing establishment. Conducted
women’s programs on income generation and savings, and tutored English as Second Language. Coordinated
street children’s program. Assisted 20-25 school-aged children with their homework and prepared them for
examinations. Observed housing and living conditions of the clients through regular home visits with the
local social workers. Established good working relationships with over ten adult female clients with whom I
did not share the same spoken language.
