Magnetic thickness measurement

Easy-to-use, small thickness gauge, fast and accurate measurement.

The method To achieve a pinpoint wall thickness measurement, a small steel ball is used which is attracted through the wall to be measured by the magnetic tip of a probe placed on the opposite side of the wall. The material thickness between the ball and the probe tip is displayed digitally. You can carry out continuous measurements by shifting the probe because the steel ball always accurately follows the measurement path of the probe tip. Even extremely thin walls and sur faces showing strong curvature are no problem; the small steel ball enables measurements even with close radii up to 0.75 mm (0.03"). The applications Fields of application where other measuring methods fail are open to the thickness gauges MTM 10 and MTM 20. They are suitable for all nonmagnetic materials - plastics, glass, ceramic, non-ferrous metals, wood, etc. Plus a large variety of application ranges: hollow bodies of all types, for example bottles - especially on the curved sur faces - but also cans or cups, such as deepdrawn plastic or aluminum cups and tubes within packaging industry. Not only glass panes or complicated ceramic parts can be measured, but also nonferrous metal castings - for example when casting a carburetor bowl - and even rubber and plastic hoses.

The gauges The small, extremely lightweight gauges - weighing only 270 g (9.5 oz.) - can be used anywhere on site. The MTM 20 has a data memory able to store up to 10,000 readings. The small plug-in printer PRT1 enables direct printout of the data, including static evaluation and histogram. In combination with special probes, the gauges can also be used for measuring coating thicknesses.
