TEKLA STRUCTURES 17
This document explains new features, fixes and improvements in Tekla Structures 17.0 Service Release 1. We recommend this service release for all Tekla Structures 17.0 users. The number after the description of the fix (for example TT12345) is the development item number of that particular fix. Your local Tekla office may have referred to this number when you have for example submitted a maintenance request.
General
Model-specific settings in Viewer configuration
Tekla Structures now remembers the visibility settings defined for reference models when you reopen a model in the Viewer configuration. The settings for currently open views and snapping are also remembered, for example. TT64227
Sometimes, when there were a large number of cuts in a single part in a model, there was an application error in Tekla Structures when trying to open a view. This has now been fixed. It is recommended not to have more than about 100 cuts in a single part, as having more cuts makes opening model views, numbering and creating reports and drawings much slower. TT65091
server computer to the Tekla Structures license server during the license activation process. Previously, in some cases there was an application error in the Tekla Structures License Administration Tool when you activated a license that had a future start date. This happened when the Tekla Structures license server was running and there were no other valid licenses of the same Tekla Structures configuration on the same computer and you clicked the Statistic tab. This has now been fixed.
TT64660
Modeling
Object representation
Defining your own colors for model objects now functions in reference models. TT63135
Copying parts
When copying a part, an associated seam connection is now copied only once. Previously, the seam connection was copied twice. TT62680
Inquiring objects
In some cases, when you used the Inquire object command to display the bolt properties, Tekla Structures changed the directions of the coordinate system. This has now been fixed. TT64341
Numbering
It is now possible to include reinforcing bar size to the reinforcing bar position number. To do this, include the %%REBAR_SIZE%% or %%REBAR_SIZE_NUMBER%% switch in the XS_REBAR_POSITION_NUMBER_FORMAT_STRING advanced option. Use REBAR_SIZE_NUMBER if you want to omit the #-sign in the rebar size. For example, set
Note that double percent signs (%%) are used when setting the advanced option in the initialization file. If you set the advanced option in Tools > Options > Advanced Options..., use only a single percent sign. TT56955
Equations now work correctly when setting the extrusion type and thickness in the Sketch Browser. TT64626
Sketched profiles
Occasionally, some profiles did not function correctly when two models with different profitab.inp files were opened one after the other. This has now been fixed. TT63562
Multi-user mode
In some cases, if there were conflicts in the multi-user mode when moving parts, the parts were slightly offset from their true position. This has now been fixed.
TT63964
Drawings
Dimensions and dimension tags
You can now select the desired reinforcement dimension mark property file through Tools > Options > Options... > Drawing dimensions instead of loading the dimension property files dimension_mark.dim or tagged_dimension_mark.dim. In some cases the reinforcement dimension marks were not created, this has now been fixed.
TT60512
Dimension lines spacing is now available in the Dimension Properties dialog box also for manually created dimensions. It allows you to place dimensions at given distances, and works only if dimension placing is set to free.
TT58411
When you tried to add upper left or right, or lower left or right dimension tags containing only text, the tags were added at every dimension point you selected. This has now been fixed, and left dimension tags are now applied only to the leftmost dimension and right tags to the rightmost one. TT61492
The dimension and the tag are updated properly also when any of the embeds is removed from the model. TT45487
In some cases, the dimension tag lines were too long. This has now been fixed. TT62160 If dimension prefix and postfix are set up, they are now shown despite of how many parts are dimensioned. The part count is no longer included in the prefix or postfix.
TT57961
Dimension tags are now shown for bended anchors. TT60762 Previously, protected areas were missing from angle dimensions. This has now been fixed. TT64634
Marks
If there is a multi leader line set for a reinforcing bar group mark, but there is only one reinforcing bar in the group, Tekla Structures now automatically uses a single leader line instead. Previously, no marks were drawn if the reinforcing bar group contained only one reinforcing bar and a wrong leader line type was selected. TT49296
Views
In some cases, the view was incorrectly associated to its depth up an depth down values. This has now been fixed. TT59478
Section views are not combined or split anymore when cloning or updating cast unit drawings. TT63530
Modifying a drawing view by loading view attributes from attribute file with OpenAPI changed the internal view type to always be "model view." This means that all parts were shown inside the view boundary, because they were not filtered by assembly, cast unit or part. This has now been fixed TT64224
Sometimes wrong parts were shown in the drawing after a change in the model. This has now been fixed. TT62974
Curved beams and curved lines are now drawn correctly. Before, curved beams and curved lines with a extensive radius were drawn straight. TT56382
Reinforcing bars
All reinforcing bars were not visible if the section view was sloped. This has now been fixed. TT61319
Tapered reinforcing bars are now shown properly in section views. TT62404 End symbols of tapered reinforcing bar groups with hooks are now drawn correctly in pullout pictures.
TT63991
Macros
The Create moment connection symbols and Create Cut Lines dialog boxes did not always open. This has now been fixed. TT64372
Cloning
You can now clone cast unit drawings in the Reinforced Concrete Detailing configuration as well. TT64953
When a cloned drawing had different object level settings in different views, and you had set Other marks to Create in cloning settings, the mark properties were taken from the object level settings of the first view. Now the marks are created correctly in different views in cloned drawings. TT60694
Multidrawings
The link between multidrawing and the linked drawing was not deleted if the linked drawing was deleted from the multidrawing. This has now been fixed. TT65428
Previously, duplicate detail symbols and part marks were created in anchor bolt plans in the 64-bit Tekla Structures. This has now been fixed. TT65218
Automatic drawing creation using Master Drawing Catalog Rule sets was very slow. This has now been fixed. TT64468
Previously, in some cases net weight and gross weight were not always shown correctly in reports. This has now been fixed. TT65047
The Learn more about Tekla BIMsight link in the Publish to Tekla BIMsight dialog box now opens your default web browser.
TT63225
NC files
The original order of pop-mark settings is now preserved when you save and load the settings. TT62992
Contour plates with several consecutive curved sections are now output correctly when creating NC files. TT64200
Bolts are now added correctly in rectangular parts when creating NC files. TT64507 Previously, if you created an NC file of a plate that was made as a polybeam, the file always contained the unfolded geometry of the plate. You can now use the new advanced option
XS_DSTV_DO_NOT_UNFOLD_POLYBEAM_PLATES under the CNC category to prevent the
unfolding. If you set the advanced option to TRUE, polybeam plates are not unfolded when creating an NC file. Note that this only affects plates that lie in the plane of the material. The default value is FALSE. TT56918
You can now define whether the export folder is opened once the Unitechnik export has been done. TT63266
Previously the special assembly transformation did not work correctly if part rotation was used. This has now been fixed, and the rotation of the main element is taken into consideration in the special assembly symbols. TT64936
You can now select on the Plotter data tab which property of cut parts is used for filtering: class, name, material, or none. In addition to the property type, you can define one or more property values. If the selected property of the cut part equals any of the defined property values, the cut part is not exported in the plotter data. TT64170
There is now a new Remove numbering separator option on the Data content tab. You can use the option to select whether a position number separator is used in numbering. The default is No. TT39935
Export result is now displayed on the status bar located at the bottom of the Tekla Structures window. TT39931
New options for the creation and selection of a log file have been added. You can now select whether console messages are printed also to the log file. If part material cannot be found in the material catalog, a message is displayed in the console.
10
TT39865
The export will now fail if numbering is not up to date, and the log file messages show the IDs of the parts whose numbering is not up to date. After the export, the log file is displayed instead of the actual export file. TT39932
Previously, exporting complex parts sometimes caused an application error. This has now been fixed. TT64871
Custom components
Defining custom components
You can now define custom components with multiple connections between the same main and secondary part. The connections used need to be different, for example, you cannot use two End plate (144) connections. TT63487
The assembly component logic has been improved so that the parts from the components adapt to the correct assembly more consistently and robustly than earlier. TT57629
Previously, copying complex custom components occasionally caused Assertion failed errors. This has now been fixed TT58031
Custom details and connections, which contain subassemblies, now work correctly in the Reinforced Concrete Detailing configuration. The subassemblies are automatically added to cast units. TT63106
Steel connections
Tube gusset (20), Tube crossing (22), Corner tube gusset (56), Hollow brace wraparound gusset (59)
Previously, a weld was created on the connection plate even if the brace connection did not include a weld. This has now been fixed. TT62954
Previously, in some cases the secondary part and the end plate clashed when you defined a gap between them on the Parameters tab. This has now been fixed. TT63625
11
Haunch (40)
The functionality of the Symmetrical cut for profile haunch option has been improved. You can now also define a saw dimension for the symmetrical haunch. TT63816
Part prefix and start number are now applied to far side stiffeners as well. TT48202
Previously, when you defined on the Bolts tab that the bolt length is the same for all bolts and the clip angles were bolted to the main and secondary part, some of the bolts were not affected. This has now been fixed. TT62775
Beam with stiffener (129), Column with shear plate (131), Welded to top flange S (149), Full depth (184), Column with stiffeners (186)
The gap between the shear tab and the secondary part is now created correctly when defined on the Plates tab.
TT58503
Steel details
U.S. Base plate (1047)
The base plate is now correctly offset so that bolts are not offset when you define the plate offset on the Parameters tab. Bolt offset is defined on the Bolts tab using bolt edge distance. You can now define the bolt edge distance for the bottom bolt as well.
12
TT59537
The base plate chamfers at the top part of the base plate (chamfers 1 and 4) were not cut correctly as defined on the Picture tab. This has now been fixed. An up direction symbol has also been added on the base plate. TT57291
The handrail is now created correctly when the Top rail cuts is set to At max length on the Parameters tab. TT60708
Reinforcement components
Edge and Corner Reinforcement (62)
There is a new option on the Picture tab to control the alignment of bars. You can now define whether or not the edge bars, diagonal bars and U bars are aligned with the slope of a slab that has different corner thicknesses. The default value is Yes. TT30346
On the Stirrups tab, a new option Grade has been added for (Stirrup 2). If you do not enter any grade for (Stirrup 2), the grade value is copied from (Stirrup 1). TT61698
On the Stays tab, when you selected the option to create a hole on top of the stay's bolt in the secondary part, the hole was not created. This has now been fixed.
13
TT55246
When you added double stays, the bolts that connect one of the stays to the purlin were rotated and slotted holes were created in both the stay and the purlin. This has now been fixed. The bolts are not rotated and the holes are created in the purlins. TT63486
The stay plate was not created when the top flange of a beam was selected as the main part. Also, the cleat clashed with the top flange of the beam when the web plate had been selected as the main part. This has now been fixed. TT56055
The component now works correctly with 300 and 350 mm deep sections. TT63752
When you changed the concrete design method from None to Calculate required area, the buckling parameters of concrete parts were not updated automatically (the parameters are not calculated when the design method is None). This has now been fixed. TT62085
Previously, Get Results did not work when Design method for steel was set to None. This has now been fixed. TT65060
Design groups
When other than the default design group was used, the Optimization Results dialog box did not work correctly. The correct parts were not selected automatically. This has now been fixed. TT63945
When you deleted an automatically created rigid link, the split nodes created for the rigid link were not removed. This has now been fixed. TT64995
Load combinations
You can now select a load combination file (.lco) saved in the environment system folder in the Load combinations dialog box. TT61762
