Inspiring student interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Connect your middle or high school science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students to the exciting world of NASA exploration and discovery by joining the NASA Explorer Schools (NES) project. Incorporate exciting, authentic learning experiences designed around NASA's unique missions into your classroom to provide relevance to what you are teaching and promote student engagement in STEM using NASA resources especially created for the NES project. NES offers multiple possible pathways for participation and recognitions and requires no formal application process. Project materials are freely available to all types of schools (public, charter, private, urban, and rural) located in the United States, a U.S. territory, Department of Defense, or State Department school, at the middle and high school levels, grades 4 through 12. Participate as an individual educator, or part of a team, or create a whole school focus. Launch your students into the exciting world of NASA.

NES Virtual Campus: Navigate to all of the NES projects resources at the NES Virtual Campus site. Classroom Support Modules: Engage students with exciting hands- and minds-on activities that challenge them with real-world problems facing the astronauts, scientists, and engineers of space exploration. Electronic Professional Development: Participate in a variety of live or self-guided electronic professional development opportunities providing background information on current NASA missions and research. NASA Now Events: Each week, a 5- to 7-minute video, designed especially for your students, is broadcast highlighting current NASA science, missions and research, and careers. Teacher, Student, and School Recognition Opportunities: NES extends its reach beyond the classroom and school year by recognizing innovative integration of NASA content modules and exemplary use of best practices in education to inspire student interest in STEM. Based on levels of participation and implementation, teachers, students, and schools earn eligibility for a variety of exciting recognitions and participation in one-of-a-kind opportunities.
